Thomas "Tom"
J. Gallagher
Sep 11, 1938 — Dec 9, 2019
Chesterfield
Thomas J. Gallagher "Tom" Baptized into the hope of Christ's resurrection, Mon., Dec. 9, 2019.
Beloved husband of Mary Ann Gallagher (nee Howard); dear father and father-in-law of the late Thomas (the late Lana) Gallagher, John (Yvonne) Gallagher, Susan Sadowski, Don Gallagher and Mark Gallagher; dear grandfather of Cara, Ryan, Ava and Michael; dear brother of Charles (June) Gallagher, Kathleen (the late Harold) Bruns, Frank (Kathy) Gallagher, Bob (Marilyn) Gallagher and the late Richard Gallagher; our dear uncle, great-uncle, cousin and friend.
After attending O'Fallon Technical High School, Tom joined the U.S. Navy and was stationed in Kodiak, Alaska serving the military for two years. While working as an account rep for the Ronocco Coffee Company Tom developed a side business of buying and selling cars and soon discovered his true passion. With his strong entrepreneurial spirit and the blessings of his wife, he opened his own car business in Spanish Lake and successfully operated there for nearly 23 years. During this time he cultivated an impressive network of professional contacts in the automotive industry throughout St. Louis County as well in Illinois, he served on the board of directors for United Fruit & Produce for five years as a consultant for their transportation division and served as a mentor for others close to him who pursued careers in the car sales industry. Tom was a proud 1st generation Irish-American, and an avid golfer who enjoyed attending and supporting any and all sports endeavors of his children and grandchildren. Married for 59 years, it goes without saying that he was a family-man to his core with an unwavering belief in his Catholic faith. Tom's humor, quick-wit and loving gregarious nature will be missed by us all.
