FUNERAL SERVICE POSTPONED

Alice Kathryn "Katie" Hawkins, a beloved mother and grandmother, passed away peacefully on December 18, 2024, at the age of 87. She was born on October 3, 1937, in Cape Girardeau, MO to John and Isabelle Burford.

Katie was a devoted wife to David L. Hawkins Jr. and mother to JoAnne Hawkins Slankard and John Hawkins. She was also a loving grandmother to Jacob Slankard, Jonah Hawkins and Owen Hawkins. She is also survived by her sister Marion Weiss.

She was a seamstress for decades, creating magic tricks for magicians across the world. She was also a dedicated volunteer for her children's schools and activities.  She was known for going above and beyond with extended family, showering all with gifts and love on a regular basis. She will be remembered for her warm and welcoming personality and her unwavering love for her family. She loved to play bridge with friends, host parties, and to travel all over the world, but her travels more often than not were to attend significant family events.

A visitation is rescheduled to MONDAY, JANUARY 6, 2025, at 2:00 pm, followed by a funeral service at 3:00 pm at Ortmann Stipanovich Funeral Home 12444 Olive Blvd, Creve Coeur, MO 63141. A reception will be held from 4:00 pm to 6:00 pm at Timothy's The Restaurant , 12710 Olive Blvd., Creve Coeur, MO 63141. In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to Central Presbyterian Church, Clayton, MO Giving | Central Presbyterian Church.
