Obituary

Tony Hausladen
March 23, 1975 – October 9, 2024

Anthony J. Hausladen "Tony," of Kirkwood, Missouri suddenly passed away on Wednesday, October 9th at the age of 49. Tony was born March 23, 1975, in St. Louis, MO, a loving son of Dorothy and the late Anthony T. Hausladen; beloved brother and brother-in-law of Laura (John) Alvarado and Stephen Hausladen; much loved uncle of Olivia and Marisa Alvarado, Gabrielle Hausladen and Ian Wright; a dear brother, son, uncle, godfather, teammate, fur parent, nephew, cousin and friend.

Tony grew up in Chesterfield, MO surrounded by loving neighbors and lifelong friends in the Kinderhook Drive neighborhood. His love of baseball started early, playing day-long games in backyards throughout Green Trails. He quickly became a baseball phenom as a pitcher and first baseman at De Smet Jesuit High School where he was then recruited by St. Louis University (SLU) to play first base. Tony went on to hold career records at SLU with 47 Homeruns and 187 RBIs earning him a SLU Billiken Hall of Fame spot in 2004.

While he was an exceptional baseball player, his character truly made him a stand-out friend and colleague. Tony was a dedicated telecommunications and IT salesman throughout his professional career. He built great relationships with his customers and achieved numerous accolades. Affectionately known as "Haus" to numerous friends, he had a wicked sense of humor with inside jokes that will always be remembered by those close to him. He adored his golden retriever "Charlie Pup" who was often seen as his sidekick everywhere he went.

His greatest title may have been "Uncle Tony." He showered his nieces and nephew with larger-than-life gifts, love and support. Even his friends' children called him "Uncle Tony" as he played a big role in their lives. His presence in their lives shaped who they are today and will have a lasting impact.

In 2016, Tony was diagnosed with a soft tissue Sarcoma and fought this rare cancer with courage and resilience, never missing a day of work or celebrations with family and friends. He beat this cancer in 2017 continuing to walk and raise money for research throughout the years.

Tony will be remembered as a "Gentle Giant" whose big heart and loving nature made him a friend to all.
