Obituary

Luella "Billie" Belluso (née Schmitt) passed away peacefully on Sunday, October 16, 2022. Billie was
the beloved wife of F. John Belluso for over 65 years; dear mother of Maria Barbieri and Sue Thomas;
dear mother-in-law of Pete Thomas; dear grandmother of Zach, Alexa, Kendall, Cate, Tori, and Markie;
dear sister of Marilyn, and the late Herman, Marie, Hilda, Ralph, Oneida, and Edwin; dear aunt, great-
aunt, cousin, and friend. She loved her seven brothers and sisters, their spouses, and all her nieces and
nephews. Some of her fondest memories were of weddings in her hometown, family reunions, holidays,
and spending time with family.
Billie graduated from Union High School in Union, Missouri and quickly set her sights on moving to St.
Louis where she lived in Dogtown with her sister Marilyn and brother Ed. Later they were joined by
their mother, Catherine, and they all enjoyed many happy years together.
Billie met John, the love of her life, at a USO dance for the Airforce in Florida. As John tells the story,
he knew Billie was "the one" the moment he saw her.
Billie worked at Buick Motors and Macy's for many years, but the job she enjoyed most was raising her
two daughters and spending time with her six grandchildren, never missing an opportunity to enjoy their
company. She was loved dearly by them all.
Billie was an avid sports fan who enthusiastically supported the St. Louis Cardinals, the St. Louis Rams,
the Missouri Tigers, and the Fighting Illini. In her early married years, she spent many cold Sundays in
the stands with John cheering on the St. Louis Cardinals football team, and she often scheduled weekend
plans around their televised games. While her children were in college, she loved traveling to Columbia
with John, Marilyn, and George to cheer Mizzou in person.
Billie's thoughtful, accepting nature and joyful spirit will be remembered forever and the loving energy
she radiated will be missed by all.
