Catherine Marie Czysz, age 89, of Allen, TX, passed away, peacefully, on Thursday morning, January 29, 2026 at Texas Health Presbyterian Hospital in Plano, TX. She was born February 20, 1936 to Karl and Louise Rudelic in East St. Louis, IL. She is survived by her children: Donna Maria Czysz-McConnell of Allen, TX, and Paul Michael Czysz of Littleton, CO; two grandchildren, Ashley Elwood (Kevin) and Paul McConnell (Reagan); two great grandchildren, Abigail Elwood and Brady Elwood; and nephew, John Rudelic (Su) (children Ariel & Max). She is preceded in death by her husband of 52 years, Paul A. Czysz; her parents, Karl and Louise Rudelic; her brother, John Karl Rudelic; her sister, Anne Rudelic and her niece, Cynthia Rudelic.
Catherine (aka, Cathy or Katy) was a graduate of Webster College in May 1957, with a Bachelor of Arts (teacher). After graduation, she taught 4th and 5th grade until she got married in October of 1961. She then moved with her husband, Paul, to Vandalia, Ohio, where he worked at Wright Patterson Air Force Base until 1963. They returned to St. Louis and she remained there until 2015, when she moved to Allen, TX to live with her daughter. During her life, she was a devout Catholic, devout St Louis Cardinal Baseball fan (knew all the players stats and watched their games on tv, regularly), teacher, gardener, wife, mother, grandmother, great grandmother, and a gift shop manager/volunteer at the St. Louis Science Center (Museum of Science and Natural History) from 1975 to 1995. She attended Saint Anselm's Parish in Creve Coeur, MO for over 48 years and then Our Lady of Angels Catholic Church in Allen, Tx for almost 10 years. Catherine enjoyed managing her garden of many different flowers, shrubs and trees. Catherine was fond of traveling, visiting many places and meeting new people (Italy, Germany, France, Spain, Luxembourg, Switzerland, Netherlands, Belgium, Ireland, Great Britain, Denmark, Sweden, Yugoslavia, Greece, Turkey, Australia, New Zealand, China, Japan, South Korea, most of the Canadian provinces, and all of the U.S states) and visiting her family and friends.
Visitation will be on March 5, 2026 at Ortmann-Stipanovich Funeral Home from 4 to 8 PM. Funeral Service will take place at 10 AM on March 6, 2026 at Ortmann-Stipanovich Funeral Home. This will be followed by the Rite of Committal at Bellerive Gardens Cemetery.
