Baptized into the hope of Christ’s resurrection, Friday, August 21, 2026. Beloved husband of Dianne T. Eifler (nee Twyman); dear father and father-in-law of Judy (Jim) Mosley, Dave (Ilene Wolff) Eifler, Lynn (John) Martens, Stephen (Adrienne) Eifler and the late Timothy Eifler; loving grandfather of Grace Mosley, Hannah (Tommy) Dinges, Charlie (Lauren) Mosley, Isabel Mosley, Elise and Zev Eifler, David (Christina) Martens, Meghann Martens, Katie (Justen) Anibas, Julia Martens and Amelia, Brendan, Ryan and Chase Eifler; dear son of the late Charles and Julia Eifler; dear brother of Tom (Diana) Eifler, Mary Julia (Chip) Kuhn and the late John (Mary Anne) Eifler; our dear great grandfather of 6, brother-in-law, uncle, cousin and friend.

Charlie was born during the Great Depression on the Eve of the Kentucky Derby in Louisville, KY. He delivered papers as a boy and later worked at Churchill Downs. He graduated from Flaget High School. He received an NROTC scholarship in order to attend University of Louisville, where he earned a degree in Chemical Engineering as well as being crowned Mr. Thoroughbred. While at U of L, he met Dianne Twyman, his perfect match and love of his life for 66 years. They married in 1959 and moved to Norfolk VA to fulfill his Navy duties. Their first child Tim was born in 1960. By the end of 1964 they added Judy, Dave and Lynn to the Eifler clan. In 1982, 3 years after the sudden death of Tim, they were blessed with the arrival of Stephen just before their nest would have emptied. His long career with Monsanto and Chemical Waste Management moved him to St. Louis, El Dorado, Arkansas, and Chicago. The majority of the time, they were in their beloved subdivision River Bend. Charlie and Dianne enjoyed time with their neighbors playing tennis and bridge, hosting KY derby parties and hamming it up in the River Bend Repertory Company. Charlie was also an active member of Incarnate Word parish serving as a lector, Eucharistic minister, and Grand Knight of the Knights of Columbus. The most important thing in Charlie’s life was spending time with family. Whether holidays, birthdays or just get togethers, games were played, jokes were told, snacks were devoured and Manhattans were consumed. He enjoyed supporting his children and then his grandchildren in their many activities.

Nothing said here will convey the essence of this incredible man. Rest in peace, Charlie, Charlie Tim, Chaz, Dad, and Pop.

Visitation at the Ortmann Stipanovich Funeral Home, 12444 Olive Blvd., Creve Coeur on Thursday, August 27 from 4-7 p.m. Funeral Mass at Incarnate Word Catholic Church, 13416 Olive Blvd., Chesterfield on Friday, August 28 at 12:30 p.m. Interment Bellerive Gardens Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to the Alzheimer’s Association, Alzheimer's Association .
