Obituary

Christopher James Fox
September 18, 1982 – November 1, 2026

Christopher James Fox, lovingly known as Chris, passed away peacefully on Sunday, November 1, 2026, at the age of 44, surrounded by the love of his family.

Born on September 18, 1982, in St. Louis, Missouri, Christopher grew up in the city he would always call home. His life took him to different parts of the country, including Florida and Virginia during his military service, and later to Phoenix, Arizona, where he spent nearly four years before returning to St. Louis in May 2026.

Christopher proudly served his country in the United States Navy from 2004 to 2008, with assignments in Pensacola, Florida, and Virginia Beach, Virginia. During the Iraq War, he deployed aboard the USS Dwight D. Eisenhower (CVN-69), serving in the Persian Gulf in support of Operation Iraqi Freedom. As an Airman Plane Captain, Christopher worked on the flight deck of the aircraft carrier, helping prepare and arm fighter jets for combat missions, performing demanding and essential work in service to his country. In recognition of his service, Christopher was awarded the National Defense Service Medal, Global War on Terrorism Expeditionary Medal, Global War on Terrorism Service Medal, and Sea Service Deployment Ribbon.

Christopher was a quiet, gentle, and kindhearted soul whose easygoing nature and soft demeanor brought a sense of calm to those around him. Thoughtful and unassuming, he possessed a brilliant mind and a remarkable creative spirit. Exceptionally intelligent and well-read, he had a natural curiosity and an extraordinary ability to teach himself new skills. An artist at heart and a gifted craftsman, Christopher had an incredible talent for working with his hands. A self-taught contractor, he could envision, build, repair, and create with a skill that seemed to come effortlessly to him.

He found happiness in the simple pleasures of life. An avid record collector and passionate lover of music, Christopher appreciated the richness of a good record and the joy of discovering something new. He was also a wonderful cook who loved spending time in the kitchen, especially when preparing meals and sharing that experience with family. Whether creating something with his hands, enjoying music, or gathering around a meal, Christopher had a way of finding meaning in the things he loved.

Among his most cherished roles was being an uncle to his niece, Holly Blair Halliday, and nephew, Anderson “Sonny” James Noll. Christopher was a wonderful uncle, and the love he shared with them will remain a treasured part of his legacy.

Christopher is survived by his loving mother, Sheridan Morgan Fox; father, Paul John Horton III; sisters, Alexandria (Fox) Halliday and Morgan (Fox) Noll (Christopher Noll); stepfathers, James Fox and Barry Smith; stepmother, Gina Henline; and stepsiblings, Stella and Milan Henline.

He is also survived by his beloved niece, Holly Blair Halliday, and nephew, Anderson “Sonny” James Noll; grandparents, Ron and Dianne Morgan; aunts, Veronica (Morgan) Banks, Cathleen Morgan, Mary Alicia Swatek, Margaret Nelle Meyer, Denise Ligon, Mary (Fox) Tao; uncles, James Dement Horton, Matthew Joseph Horton, and Dennis Fox; and cousins, Annie and Cal Banks, Millie and Scott Carter Swatek, Matthew, Anna, and Madeline Meyer, William and Emily Horton, and Brittany, Charles, and Mackensie Ligon.

Christopher was preceded in death by his paternal grandparents, Paul John Horton Jr. and Carol Maxine (née Dement) Horton; his grandparents, Aurelia “Eve” and William Fox; and his aunt, Jane Fox.

Christopher was deeply loved by his family, friends, and the many people whose lives he touched. His gentle spirit, kindness, and quiet presence made a lasting impression, often in ways he may never have fully realized. He will be remembered not only for the things he accomplished and created, but for the warmth he brought to others, the moments he shared, and the love he gave so naturally. Though his life was far too short, the love surrounding him was abundant, and the love he leaves behind will endure. His presence will be deeply missed, and his memory will be carried forward by all who had the privilege of knowing him.

A Celebration of Life honoring Christopher will be held on Sunday, November 15, 2026, from 1:00 to 5:00 p.m. at Romaine Valley, 1676 Romaine Creek Road, Fenton, Missouri 63026.

A special time of remembrance and reflection will begin at 2:00 p.m., as family and friends gather to celebrate Christopher’s life and the memories he leaves behind.
