Daniel "Dan"
Joseph Kendrick
May 10, 1941 – February 19, 2026
Daniel "Dan" Joseph Kendrick, 84, of Chesterfield, Missouri, passed away peacefully on Thursday, February 19, 2026, surrounded by his loving family.
Dan was born on May 10, 1941, at St. Mary's Hospital in St. Louis, Missouri, to Jerome and Lucille Kendrick. The youngest of five siblings, he attended St. Ann Grade School and graduated from De Andreis High School in North St. Louis. He enlisted in the United States Army and proudly served in the Army Reserves. Through hard work and determination, Dan became a first generation graduate of the University of Missouri–Columbia.
While in college, Dan met the love of his life, Jane. They married on February 29, 1964, and together they raised three children: Maggie, Michael and David. His early career years were spent on the road in sales with Frisco Railroad and Kaiser Aluminum Foil, moving his young family from Chicago to Kansas City and then to Cincinnati. Eventually, Dan returned home to St. Louis, where he pursued a successful career in real estate.
He worked as a salesperson and later became a broker manager with Lott Hunt, Ira E. Berry, and Coldwell Banker Real Estate Companies. Dan served for many years on the Board of the St. Louis Association of Realtors and was especially proud to be elected President of the Association in 2003. Through his work and investments in rental properties, he helped many people achieve the dream of homeownership. A passionate advocate for the real estate industry, Dan was a respected teacher and mentor to many.
Above all else, Dan was a devoted husband, loving father, and doting grandfather. His grandchildren were the joy of his life, and he attended every game, dance recital, and graduation with pride. Dan loved the water—whether boating, fishing, or simply visiting marinas—and felt most at peace when near it. Known for his mischievous sense of humor, he often joked that the Army gave him discipline but never took away his playful spirit. Few knew he was also a wonderful dancer who cherished listening to live music and dancing with his beloved wife, Jane.
Dan is survived by his wife of 62 years, Jane Ellen (Doenges) Kendrick; his children Maggie Finnessy (John), Michael, and David (Kelly); and his four grandchildren, Jack and Ryan Finnessy and Tyler and Alyssa Kendrick. He is also survived by his sister in law Cheri Kendrick, brother in law Dave Pope, and many cherished cousins, nieces, nephews, and friends.
He was preceded in death by his parents, John Jerome and Catherine Lucille (Clark) Kendrick, and his siblings Sister Mary Ann Kendrick, CCVI; John J. Kendrick Jr.; Jean Marie King; and Joan Marie Pope.
Please join us in honoring the memory of Dan Kendrick and his wonderful life. A visitation will be held on March 6th from 4:00–6:00 p.m., followed immediately by a Celebration of Life service. Afterwards, all are welcome to gather at the Stackhouse for food and refreshments. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the Alzheimer's Association, in honor of his wife Jane, or to Tunnels to Towers, a charity dear to his heart.
