April 17, 1957 – April 19, 2024
David John Shephard, 67, passed away on April 19, 2024. He was the son of the late Hermina (nee Lause) and Richard Shephard; beloved husband of Mary Shephard (nee James); dear brother to Jean (mark) Powers; uncle to Anna (Noah) Carpenter and John (Amanda Phipps) Powers; great-uncle to Margot Carpenter, Aubree Boarman and Cameron Powers; Son-in-law of the late Ralph and Olivia (nee Scherman) James; Brother-in-law to Larry James, Dennis and Margaret (nee Campbell) James, Katie (nee James) and David Fox, Paul and Karen (nee Stocker) James. Rita (nee James) and Robert Walsh. He had an extensive group of nieces and nephews and great nieces and nephews.
Dave grew up in South St Louis where he lived until moving to Maryland Heights in 2001 when he married Mary.
He was employed at PRI (Progressive Recover Inc) for 30 years.
Dave traveled extensively for his job and loved to share his knowledge of regional foods. Many times he would have a list of foods to bring home for family or friends. He had a favorite spot to eat everywhere he went.
Upon his retirement from PRI, he and Mary moved to their dream home in Wentzville, Mo.
The destination he liked the most was Asheville North Carolina and he would return often even vacationing there with Mary.
He shared his passion for music with Mary and had a vast collection of vinyl, "the only way to listen"!
He was happiest at home listening to music with Leonard, their cat, on his lap.
Dave had many interests. He was a car enthusiast and had a number of special cars over the years. He enjoyed nature and photography and in his younger years was an enthusiastic cyclist, participating in The Midnight Ramble a number of times.

Visitation will be at Ortmann-Stipanovich Funeral Home, 12444 Olive Blvd., Creve Coeur, on Saturday April 27, 2024 from. 2:00 p.m. to 5:00 p.m. with celebration of life following.
In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions can be made to Tunnel to Towers, Wounded Warriors, or DAV.
