Obituary

Donald (Don) James Meyer

Born on June 6, 1953 in Clayton, MO and died peacefully on July 2, 2024 with his loving wife Angie by his side. They married on June 1, 1984 and enjoyed 40 years of wonderful marriage. He was 71 years old.

Don attended Augustinian Academy and University of Missouri – St. Louis where he earned a bachelor of science in economics. He worked for USF&G as an insurance claims adjuster and then as a supervisor.  He retired from the corporate world and expanded his passion for being a landlord and eventually owned nine duplexes in St. Ann.  He enjoyed interacting with his tenants, took pride in being a quality landlord, even cutting the grass, hanging Christmas lights and had close connections with his tenants.

Don is survived by his wife Angela "Angie" Meyer nee Kullman and his three children Julie (Zachary) Regelin, David (Keryn) Meyer, and Daniel (Haley) Meyer.

Don is survived by 8 of his 9 siblings.  Brothers include Wilfred "Bill" (Darlene), Thomas "Tom" (Kathleen "Kass"), James "Jim" (Elizabeth), Joseph "Joe" (Carla), and Timothy "Tim" Meyer.  Sisters include Mary Qualls, Patricia "Pat" (Louis "Lou") Clark and Joan (Charles "Chuck") Wehking. He is also survived by his four grandchildren; Warren Meyer, Rose and Violet Regelin, and Phoebe Meyer.  His many nieces, nephews, grandnieces, grandnephews, and friends will miss him greatly.

He is preceded in death by his parents, Wilfred and Bernadette (Ulrich) Meyer and brother John (Nancy) Meyer.

Don loved to collect Farmall Cub tractors, Cub Cadet riding lawn tractors, farm implements, coins, Abraham Lincoln memorabilia, and antique knick-knacks.  He loved antique cars especially his 1932 Plymouth sedan.

His quiet and caring demeanor was especially evident when working with the Boy Scouts of Troop 769where he served as an Assistant Scoutmaster.  He loved letting the boys lead, baking treats for everyone, and participating in the campouts.  He was proud to help his son Daniel earn the rank of Eagle Scout.

Since he was twelve, his favorite place to be was Cedar Ledge Ranch in Hillsboro, MO.  He built many sheds to house his ever expanding collection of tractors and farm implements bought at auction.  He was proud to host the "Meyer Family Party" twice a year, which helped keep connections tight between the Meyers.  He had a passion for horses and wanted to have his children grow up with them.  He took great pride and effort in providing a beautiful place for his family to relax. He loved giving tractor rides, pony rides, barbequing, creating trails, splitting firewood, and fixing tractors.
