Doris Jean Rickard of St. Louis, MO, passed away at home, surrounded by family, on December 7th, 2024 at the age of 92.

Doris was born on November 18th, 1932 in St. Louis, MO to her late parents, Lillie Dell (Hormann) and Elmer Steger. After graduating from Ritenour High School, she got her first job as a secretary at Western Auto.

On June 22, 1956, she married William (Bill) Rickard. Together, they raised four children. Doris was a caring mother who loved traveling with her family across the country. Later, she helped to raise nine grandchildren, teaching them how to ride bikes and lace up their own ice skates.

Doris was a talented figure skater with a gift for passing her knowledge onto others. She was a stern and loving teacher, and for many years she coached her children and grandchildren in the sport she knew best. Over the decades, she was a friend to both US Figure Skating and The Special Olympics, and she continued to skate well into her 80s. In later years, she loved telling stories, reading books, watching Hallmark movies, and decorating for the holidays.

Doris was preceded in death by her husband, Bill, of 68 years; their daughter, Cheryl; their grandson, Nathan; and her brother, Richard.

She is survived by her two brothers, Norman and Gary; three children, Kurt, Missy, Karl and wife Michelle; eight grandchildren, Joshua, Nicole, Evangeline, Jake, Ryan, Anna, Sarah, and William; and eight great-grandchildren.

Services will be held at Harmony Methodist Church (2730 Walton Rd, St. Louis, MO 63114) on Friday, December 13th. Visitation at 10am; Memorial Service at 11am; and Lunch at 12pm.
