Edmund "Larry" Lawrence Quatmann
December 13, 1946 - August 27, 2024
Larry was born on December 13, 1946, in Cape Girardeau, Missouri, to Joseph and Marian Quatmann. He died on August 27, 2024, after a long battle with cancer.
Larry's life revolved around his large and loving family and he will be most remembered for his enduring devotion to his beloved wife of 55 years, Clare, and their seven children, Ed (Courtney), Christina Schoemehl (David), Paul (Michelle), Julie Gilliam, Nancy Kinziger (Andrew), Amy McMullin (Birch), and Kevin (Caitlin); 24 grandchildren, Sequoia, Skyler, Abigail, Trey, Benjamin, Sarah, Megan, Aubrey, Ada, Mark, Brooks, PJ, Henry, Owen, Michael, George, William, Teddy, Luke, Jack, Jacob, Clare, Greta, and Lola; his siblings Jim, Bob, Ted (Loida), and Cathi (Jerry) Stoverink; his in-laws Marilyn Warrell and Gerry (Jane) Eschmann; and many nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his parents and his sisters, Toni Walters and Vicki.
He graduated from Notre Dame High School in Cape Girardeau in 1964 and Saint Louis University in 1968 and later earned his MBA. He worked loyally for the same company for his entire 43-year professional career, starting with Alton Box Board Company and remaining with the company through its various mergers. After he retired in 2011, he volunteered his time and talent to the Society of St. Vincent de Paul and spent more time doing things he loved.
Larry was passionate about his family and selfless with his time and talents. Known as Grampy to his grandchildren, he loved being involved in their lives. He enjoyed boating and water skiing - especially on Bull Shoals Lake - and prided himself on teaching others to water ski. He will be greatly missed.
