Obituary

Edythe Lynette “Edie” Scheidt passed away peacefully at the age of 88, on June 4, 2026.

Edie was born to John and Helen Doerring on May 1, 1938, in Luana, Iowa. After attending Luther College, she taught 5th grade in Elkader, Iowa.

Edie married Rev. Paul Scheidt on June 10, 1961, in Luana. After a short time in Wapakoneta, Ohio, they moved to Cedar Rapids, Iowa, when Paul was called to Concordia Lutheran Church. There they built a life centered on faith, family, and friendship, and raised their three daughters, Cindy, Christy, and Carla. Edie loved baking, sewing, singing, and growing flowers.

Edie served in many roles at Concordia, and later in life had successful careers at Perpetual Savings & Loan and Toyota Motor Insurance.

In 2011, Paul and Edie moved to Friendship Village in Chesterfield, Missouri. Edie will be remembered by residents and staff alike for her candid personality and sense of humor.

Of all the roles she held, Edie most treasured being Grandma to Jacob and Tommy Regan; Paul, Aaron, and June Meuser; and Hayley, Rachel, and Brandon Cox. Her grandchildren will remember her endless attention and energy and the care she took to make each one feel uniquely loved.

Edie is survived by her daughters and their husbands, Cindy and Glenn Regan, Christy Scheidt and Tom Meuser, and Carla and Kennon Cox; her grandchildren, Jacob and Tommy Regan, Paul, Aaron, and June Meuser, and Hayley, Rachel, and Brandon Cox; her sisters, Sally (Larry) Williams and Nancy Beguin; and many nieces, nephews, and extended family members.

She was preceded in death by her husband, Paul Scheidt; her parents, John and Helen Doerring; and her siblings Raymond Doerring, Robert Doerring, Joanne Kramer, and Keith Doerring.

A funeral service will be held on June 19 at 10:30 AM at the Chapel at Friendship Village, 15201 Olive Boulevard, Chesterfield, Missouri 63017.
