Obituary

Elaine Meier (nee Jung) passed away on April 12, 2024 after a months-long battle with various medical ailments.  She died at home peacefully with her children by her side.

Elaine was born in Creve Coeur, Missouri on November 18, 1943.  The tales she and her seven siblings told of their wonderful childhood are a testament to the love, faith, and strength that their parents instilled in them all. Elaine undoubtedly carried those qualities throughout her life.

Elaine enjoyed the St. Louis Cardinals, gin and tonics, birds, and relaxing in front of a roaring fire.  In addition, she was Willie Nelson's biggest fan.

More than anything, though, she cherished her family.  Her children, their spouses, and her grandchildren were loved beyond measure, and they all consider themselves among the luckiest people in the world to have had her as their mom, "M.I.L", and grandmother.

Her grandchildren will especially miss her and the fun they had with her. She took them shoe shopping in the summers, telling each of them to "pick whatever you want".  She installed a zip line in her backyard, at one point breaking her own rib while showing them how it's done.  She taught them to shoot a bb gun (aim at the squirrels but never the birds), and she occasionally let them cuss.  She prayed with them and for them, and they never doubted her unwavering support of them.

Elaine is preceded in death by her parents, Carl and Mary Jung, her mother- and father-in-law George and Sally Meier, her former husband, Phil Meier, her brother-in-law Rick Miller, and her nephews Jason Miller and Gus Prince.

She leaves behind her siblings, her sisters- and brothers-in-law, and many nieces and nephews.   She is survived by her daughters Aimee (AJ) Ehlen, and Ashley (Patrick) Brandt, and her son George (Lauren) Meier, along with eight grandchildren: Margaret, Andrew, George, Gabe, Ava, Adaline, Phillip, and Grace.

Services will be held on Saturday, April 20, 2024 at St. Richard Catholic Church.  Visitation will begin at 9:00 a.m., with a funeral Mass beginning at 10:00 a.m. Burial at Resurrection Cemetery will immediately follow Mass.
