ELIZABETH ANN (KURTY) KENT

JANUARY 31, 1932 – FEBRUARY 16, 2023

Elizabeth Ann (Betty) Kurty was born in Stratton, Ohio on January 31, 1932, to Michael Kurty and Mary Elizabeth Shutyak.

Betty died Thursday, February 16, 2023, at the age of 91 at Dolan Mason Manor Memory Care where she had resided for the past several years.

Betty grew up in Wellsville, Ohio with her favorite dog Snowball, and graduated from Wellsville High School where she was the Class of 1949 Valedictorian. She helped her parents in their grocery businesses in Wellsville, Ohio, and resort businesses in Geneva-on-the Lake, Ohio.

Betty attended Denison College in Granville, Ohio, and Miami University of Ohio in Oxford. She was an active member of the Chi-O Sorority as well as an active alumna. She graduated with a degree in psychology and was employed by Proctor Gamble Company conducting on site housewife market research. In 1956, she resigned from P&G and became the Colerain Township Special Education First Grade Teacher for the Intellectually Challenged.  She also was a Real Estate Agent for Gundaker Realty.

In 1958, she married Robert (Bob) W. Kent, her husband of 64 years and raised four children: Dr. Robert Thomas (Donna) Kent, DDS, Michael Jonathan (Velinda J. Paranal, MD) Kent, AIA, Susan Elizabeth (Daniel G. Arce, PhD) Kent-Arce, PhD, and Elizabeth Ann (Lisa) Kent (deceased).

She enjoyed traveling, flower arranging, church activities, entertaining and helping others, particularly children. After Lisa's death, she made it her mission to offer support to others in grief.

She is survived by her husband Robert, her brother Michael William (Zeni Stanton) Kurty of San Jose, California, her three children, and six grandchildren:  Robert Thomas Kent, II, Michael Vincent Kent, Elizabeth Lillian Arce, Dennis Andrew Arce, Daniel Kent Arce, and Michael Davis Arce.

Visitation will be one hour prior to the funeral at 10:00 AM on Friday, February 24 ^th , 2023, at Holy Cross Lutheran Church, 13014 Olive Boulevard Creve Coeur, Missouri 63141.
