Elizabeth Ann Clamp
August 18, 1957 - July 31, 2024
Beth Clamp passed away on Wednesday July 31, 2024, after a bravely fought two-year battle with cancer. Beth was a beloved wife, mother, sister, aunt, great aunt and a friend whose warmth, kindness, and unwavering spirit brought joy to the lives of so many. Beth was born August 18 as the only girl of five siblings, two older brothers and two younger. She graduated from Ursaline Academy and attended St. Louis University School of Nursing, where she graduated with a Bachelor of Science degree in Nursing. She began her professional career at St. Mary's Hospital in Clayton as a cardiac intensive care nurse. Throughout her career, she worked at St. Joseph's Hospital, St Louis University Hospital, and St. Luke's Rehab Hospital. While working at SLUH, she earned an MBA degree from Webster University. From there, she found her dream job with St. Luke's Hospital as a Director of Nursing, where she worked until she retired in July of 2023. Consistently throughout her entire career, Beth was extremely dedicated to her work, highly loyal to her nursing staff, and believed in putting patients and her colleagues first.
Beth loved animals, especially Labrador retrievers, having several throughout her life. She always believed pets are part of the family and Beth cherished each and every one as her own children. Earlier in life, Beth was an avid scuba diver and was a member of the St. Louis Scuba Club and the Midwest Diving Council. She spent many weekends traveling to the lakes in southern Missouri to dive with her club and other clubs in the Council. She also frequently travelled to the tropics and enjoyed diving in saltwater. A fan of the Rat Pack, she loved Frank Sinatra songs and had many lyrics (mostly) memorized. She enjoyed watching all the classic movies of her childhood - if it was on the Turner Network, she has seen it.
As a dedicated St. Louis Blues hockey fan, Beth collected several autographed pucks and memorabilia from meeting players at work events, her favorite being Cam Janssen. She came from a large Catholic family and always looked forward to the holiday get-togethers, many of which she
organized herself and often spent days preparing. She loved having pool parties in the summer for 4th of July, which became something of a family tradition. She always made sure no one was alone for Christmas and that everyone always had a place to go. No birthday was uncelebrated, and no achievement went without a congratulations from Beth, no matter how small.
Beth is survived by her husband Charles Clamp of 35 years, son Joseph Clamp, brothers John, Mark, Glenn, and Greg Zipfel, and many beloved nieces, nephews, great nieces, and great nephews.
Public visitation will be held at Ortmann Stipanovich funeral home (12444 Olive Blvd, Creve Coeur) on Tues. August 6, 2024 from 4-8pm.
