Obituary

In loving memory of Francis "Frank" Kilcullen
Frank J. Kilcullen, was a loving husband, father, grandfather, brother, uncle and friend to many. Frank passed away on Christmas night, December 25, 2025, at the age of 86, surrounded by his family. He was born on April 29, 1939 and lived a life filled with joy and devotion to those he loved. Frank was a beloved husband for 59 years to Mary Ann (née Kalert) who he affectionately referred to as the "love of his life". He was the devoted father to Jennifer (John) Phillips, Tim (Angelina) Kilcullen and Michael Kilcullen (significant other Kelly Zeier). Frank was the dear brother to the late Kathy (Bernie) Ryan, the late Bernard (Barbara) Kilcullen and Eileen (Lee) Ehrenreich. One of his greatest joys was sharing his many stories with his grandchildren McLean Phillips, Colin Phillips, Brendan Phillips, Anna Kilcullen, Jack Kilcullen, Connor Kilcullen and Declan Kilcullen. Frank was a bighearted man with a sharp tongue and sarcastic sense of humor. Known for his impeccable style, he never missed an opportunity to dress well. He was a proud Irishman who loved his heritage and was a gifted storyteller. He delighted in entertaining people with funny tales about his life. His stories were shaped by time and exaggerated just enough to captivate and cause endless laughter.

Frank grew up and lived most of his life in St. Louis City, a city that he loved and cherished. He was a member of the Plumbers & Pipefitters Local Union #562 for 67 years where he made many life-long friends. Frank was very active in multiple organizations. He was co-founder of Local 562 Retirees, a member of the St. Patrick's Day Parade Committee, a lifetime member of the St Louis Elks Lodge #9, and honorary "Mayor of the Cul-de-Sac". He was truly one of a kind—someone whose presence could not be ignored and whose absence will be deeply felt. Wherever he went, he left an impression. He lived as himself, unapologetically and generously, and in doing so, touched countless lives.
