Gary
Lamb
July 14, 1939 – July 9, 2023
Gary Robert Lamb passed away Sunday, July 9, 2023 at the age of 83. He was the son of the late Cleo and Helen Lamb of Marshalltown, Iowa; dear husband of Judy K. Lamb (nee Mullins); loving father and father-in-law of Gary Robert Lamb II (Melynda) and devoted grandfather of Adeline and Atticus Lamb: brother and brother in law of Shirley (the late Tony) Sternola, Kenneth (Peggy) Lamb, the late Elaine (Rev. Melvin) Budke, the late Richard (Marge) Lamb, Mark (Loretta) Mullins, Sharron Mullins Owen, the late Mary Mullins Sapienza; dear uncle, great-uncle, cousin and friend.
Gary grew up in Marshalltown, Iowa where he graduated from high school in 1957, then later enlisted in the U.S. Army and served as a Military Policeman in Germany. He earned a Bachelors of Science degree in Secondary Education from Southeast Missouri State University in 1967. Upon graduation he chose a career in the insurance industry and worked 33 years as a claims adjuster.
His passions included being a dad, watching sports, playing cards, reading and traveling. In healthier times, he was an avid golfer and great homemade soup maker. He enjoyed hosting friends and family for fun and food. While his full participation in life was greatly limited the last 18 years, he passed the time comfortably enjoying personal interactions with those around him, watching TV sports and reading voraciously. Gary never met a stranger and was always ready to help and did even at the end of his life with tissue donation to Mid-America Transplant.
A visitation and celebration of his life will be held at the Ortmann Stipanovich Funeral Home, 12444 Olive Blvd., Creve Coeur, Missouri on September 23 at 3pm. Military Honors at 3:30 p.m. In lieu of flowers, please feel free to make donations to a charity of your choice or to Mid-America Transplant or Pathways Hospice and Palliative Care.
