Obituary

Glenn Patrick O'Donnell, M.D., a compassionate healer, beloved husband, and devoted father and grandfather, passed away on July 1, 2023 at the age of 73.

Pat (if you called him Glenn, he knew you were a telemarketer) was born to June and Charles O'Donnell in Columbus, Ohio where he spent most of his early childhood. He graduated from the University of Kansas knowing he wanted to pursue medicine. While he initially balked at the idea, he eventually took his father's advice and pursued his medical degree at the Universidad Autónoma de Guadalajara School of Medicine. What at first seemed like a last resort changed his life. He fell in love with Mexican food and culture, made lifelong friends, and met his future wife, Maria Enriquez Martinez.

Pat and Maria dedicated a significant part of their private medical practice, the Chesterfield Medical Office, to serving the Hispanic community of St. Louis. They recognized the importance of culturally competent care, and their bilingual abilities meant patients felt heard and respected.

Known for his empathetic nature and ability to connect with his patients on a personal level, Pat's healing touch went far beyond medical expertise. He was not only a doctor but also a confidant and a friend. In the latter part of his career, Pat decided to "retire" at the Veteran's Administration, where he finally got vacation time!

Pat is survived by his loving wife Maria, and their children Laura (Michael) Sicking, Carmen (Ben) Mason, and John O'Donnell (Joann Lee). He was the proud grandfather of Charles, Penelope, and John Sicking and Samantha, Alexandra, and Daniela Mason. They all called him "Gee". He was the caring brother-in-law of Maricela Alexandersson and devoted uncle of Francis Audisio and Markus Stauder. He offered love and guidance throughout the years to others he considered his children.

While the pandemic was a difficult time for so many around the globe, Pat would tell everyone that he had the time of his life spending six months of lockdown in New Haven, Missouri at the family ranch where 12 members of the O'Donnell bubble tended gardens, did craft projects, drank stiff drinks, rode horses, and went on many, many hikes.

In honor of Pat's life, a visitation service will be held at Ortmann Stipanovich Funeral Home (Creve Coeur) on July 7 from 4-8 p.m. The funeral service will be held at Incarnate Word Church on July 8 at 9:30 am.

In lieu of flowers, the family requests that donations be made to Casa de Salud.
