Hareth V. McNally of St Louis died peacefully in her home on April 1 surrounded by her children. Hareth was born April 11, 1930 in Brooklyn, New York to Harry and Ethel (Hicks) Verbeeck. She was married to Henry J. McNally on October 24, 1953 until his death March 2, 2010. She is survived by her children Patrick (Carla) McNally of Nashville, TN; Hank McNally of Saint Louis, MO; Dorothy McNally and friend Anne Beemsterboer of Teaneck, NJ; and Helen McNally of West Lafayette, Indiana and her grandchildren Collin McNally (Lauren), Morgan Christian (Tyler) of Nashville, TN; and Elijah McNally, Saint Louis, MO.
Hareth grew up on Long Island, NY and Pennsylvania where she graduated from Sunbury High School (1947) and then the Pennsylvania State University (1951.) She continued her education later in life attending Murray State University working on a degree in Psychology. Initially Hareth worked for Eastern Airlines where she developed the love of travel. With her husband, she lived in many States and Germany. In addition to raising her family, she was a substitute teacher, environmental advocate and volunteer for numerous organizations. Hareth was an avid knitter from the age of 6yrs, leaving her children with many cherished sweaters, scarfs and afghans. She was a very active member in the St. Louis Knitters Guild where she loved to teach the art of knitting. Hareth also loved to read, play bridge with friends and to work in her garden. She and her husband travelled extensively in later years. The family shared a yearly vacation to the North Carolina Outer Banks providing all with memories of a lifetime.
Visitation (10am) and a small service (11am) are planned for Wednesday April 8th at the Ortmann Stipanovich Funeral Home located at 12444 Olive Blvd, Creve Coeur. In lieu of flowers, the family suggests donations to the American Heart Association, American Cancer Society, American Red Cross, Operation Food Bank, or Camp Neotez.
