Henry Louis Potts "Lou" Sun. May 5, 2024; beloved husband of the late Shirley A. Potts (nee Bice); dear father and father-in-law of Patricia Virgen, Carolyn (the late Randy) Fernandez, Martha (Mike) Rutherfurd, Daniel Potts, Richard (Kari) Potts and Barbara (Ted) Juen; dear grandfather of Suzanne (Keith) Exler, Denise Hahn, Megan (Christopher) Warren, Michelle (Douglas) Wehlermann, Kenneth and Andrew Juen; dear great- randfather of Kami (Ryan), Kody, Julia, Hailey, Mason, Lailah, Molly, Lillyann, Kyle (Monica), Ethan and Alexandra; dear great-great-grandfather of Jaxon, Lenox, Halen, Lias and Aven; our dear uncle, great-uncle, cousin and friend.

Lou was a man of many talents. Besides raising 6 children with all their activities, he and Shirley found time to take up square dancing which led him to become a square dance caller. They also loved to travel. Sometimes with square dancers and sometimes just for fun. They traveled to Ireland, Australia, New Zealand, and Hawaii. They took cruises to Alaska and cruised through the Panama Canal. They traveled all across the country in their camper and spent many winters in the southern states. He was an avid hunter and gun collector. He also loved wood carving. Along the way Lou decided to take up blacksmithing. He spent many hours in his blacksmith shop heating up metal and then beating it into shape. He joined BAM (Blacksmith Association of Missouri). In 2007, at the age of 80, he took flying lessons. He was a lifelong member of The American Legion after serving in the Navy during World War II. In 2016 he was able to take an Honor Flight to Washington D.C. He always loved music. As a boy he played the piano and harmonica. He always carried a harmonica in his pocket. Later he learned to play the mountain dulcimer and ukulele. He could make or fix anything. He was a great husband and father and will be missed by all who knew him.
Visitation at Ortmann's, 9222 Lackland Rd. Overland, Tues., May 14, 9:00- 11:00 a.m. Then to All Souls Church for 11:30 a.m. Mass. Interment Jefferson Barracks National Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, donations to Sisters of St. Joseph of Carondelet appreciated.
