Irma Doris
Grimes
July 20, 1936 – December 20, 2025
In Loving Memory of Irma Doris "Dorie" Grimes (née Haering)
Irma Doris Grimes, affectionately known as Dorie, a loving mother, grandmother, and great-grandmother, passed away on December 20, 2025, surrounded by the love of her family. She was born on July 20, 1936, and lived a life filled with grace, joy, and devotion to those she loved.
Dorie was the beloved wife of Irvin James Grimes and the heart of her family. She was a devoted mother to Barbara (Tom) Parsons, Kathleen (Dave) Machisko, Linda (fiancé Chuck Borghi) Ruzicka, and David (Veronica) Grimes.
One of her greatest joys was her role as grandmother to Lisa Marie Thalhammer, Nick (Amanda) Thalhammer, Amanda (Thomas) Milleville, Erin Flynn, Megan Flynn, Kaitlin (TJ) Grybinas, Andy Ruzicka, Marty Ruzicka, Doug Ruzicka, Libby (Nick) Hrabovsky, Anna (fiancé Connor Snelson) Ruzicka, Camille Grimes, and David "Will" Grimes; and as great-grandmother to Emilia and Lily Thalhammer; Adele, Jonah, and Lucy Milleville; Emma Ahmad; Opal Grimes; and Goldie Grybinas.
She is survived by her sister Margaret "Margy" (Don) Andriot and was preceded in death by her parents, Robert and Dottie Mae Haering, and her brother Robert "Roby" Haering.
Dorie lived life with energy and enthusiasm. She loved playing tennis—remaining a senior-ranked player in Naples, Florida, until the age of 80—traveling, and living in Naples while always keeping St. Louis close to her heart. She was soft-spoken, good-natured, and generous, with a heartwarming smile that made everyone feel loved and accepted.
Her passions reflected her vibrant spirit: a talented painter and seamstress, artistic and fashionable, she studied fashion design. She was effortlessly stylish, a "beach grandma" who adored the Florida sunshine and entertaining family during vacations. She delighted in her grandchildren—playing on the floor with them as babies, giving warm hugs, and always ready to take a selfie. Her home was filled with laughter, big smiles, and the joy of family.
Dorie's beauty radiated inside and out. She was sweet, kind, accepting, and a friend to many. As a popular high school cheerleader in her youth, she carried that same lively spirit throughout her life, always ready to join friends and family for lunch, tea, shopping, or a beach day.
And in her quiet times, she loved reading and TV mysteries, embraced life's simple pleasures, and created countless cherished memories for those around her.
Her legacy is one of love, laughter, creativity, and unwavering devotion to family and friends. She will be deeply missed but forever celebrated in the hearts of those who loved her.
