Obituary

James Raymond Hade

Baptized into the hope of Christ's resurrection. It is with deep sorrow that we announce the passing of our adored patriarch, James Raymond Hade, who peacefully departed this life on Monday, June 19th, 2023, surrounded by love and his beloved wife of 64 years, Margaret "Peggy" Gail Hade (nee Quigley) at his side. Known affectionately as "Jim" and "Papa", he was born on April 20th, 1933, to parents John "Jerry" Gerard and Mary Elizabeth Hade (nee Pate).

Jim, a proud brother to Elizabeth "Betty" Jean Heuer, cherished father of Cindy (Nicholas) Capezza, Mike (Lisa) Hade, and Kelly (Chad) DiFranco, was a beacon of love, strength, and guidance. He adored his eight grandchildren, Andrew (Emily) Winkler, Nicholas Winkler, Amanda (Steve) Zarriello, Lauren Capezza, Tori Capezza, Brian Hade, Jacquelyn (Travis) Porter, Colleen (Bill) Cummiskey; and five great-grandchildren, John Winkler, Robert Winkler, Adelyn Zarriello, Zachary Zarriello, and Riley Cummiskey; sharing precious memories and life lessons they will forever cherish.

Jim's service to his country in the Korean War remained a source of pride for him throughout his life. He enlisted in the military alongside his childhood friends, forming an unbreakable bond, a brotherhood that endured until he became the long last member of their honorable group to answer the final muster.

After graduating from the University of Missouri, Jim showcased determination and integrity in his professional life. He began his career at Graybar (an employee-owned, Fortune 500 company) as a humble warehouse associate, his unwavering work ethic and dedication saw him retire 35 years later as a Senior Vice President and member of the Board of Directors. He was incredibly proud to serve an employee-owned business, expressing gratitude until his final days for what the company and his career meant to his family. He often reminded others that hard work and caring for people were the keys to personal fulfillment and professional success.

An avid golfer, Jim delighted in playing often, honing his skills during early retirement to reach a single-digit handicap – which curiously got lower as he got older, or after a few cocktails! His true victory, however, was the joy he spread amongst his friends, making every game more about camaraderie than competition.

Jim touched countless lives, his joy for life, bright spirit and wisdom leaving a profound impact on all who knew him. His departure leaves a void that cannot be filled but his love, his laughter, and his inspiring legacy will continue to light our paths.

Funeral services for James Raymond Hade will be held on July 13th, 2023, at the Incarnate Word Church in Chesterfield, MO. Visitation will be from 9am-10am, followed by a Mass from 10am-11am. A cemetery service will be held at Jefferson Barracks at 11:30am.
