James E.
Wade
May 16, 1946 – February 26, 2024
James E. "Mickey" Wade , baptized into the hope of Christ's resurrection Monday, February 26, 2024.
Beloved husband of Josephine "Jo Anne" Wade (nee Lombardo); dear father of Laura Marie Wade and James Michael Wade; dear brother of Gerald "Jerry" (Margaret)Wade, Denise (Paul) Phipps, Diane (Chuck) Wade, Vicky (Jim) Clooney and Donna (Mark) Freeman. Dear brother-in-law of Mary Ann Lombardo, Helen Lombardo and Jane (Steve) Metzner ; our dear uncle, great uncle, cousin and friend. Preceded in death by his parents, Edwin and Catherine Wade; and brothers Dennis Wade and Terry Wade.
Mickey served his country with honor and distinction in the United States Navy. He achieved the rank of E5, AMS 2. He was a proud veteran, who
will be remembered for his service to his nation. After retiring from Lever Brothers after 30 years of service, he was honored to serve the City of Overland as the Building Commissioner, and a member of the Planning and Zoning Commission. He graduated with a Bachelors Degree in Business from Maryville University and completed trade school as a machinist at Ranken Technical College.
Everyone who knew Mickey knew how much he loved perusing thrift stores. He was an avid collector of Mickey Mouse memorabilia and cookbooks. He had the personality and natural charisma to speak to anyone, anytime and anywhere; he loved telling stories and jokes to anyone who would listen. He also enjoyed reading newspaper publications and playing backgammon. Mickey was an active member of St. Jude Parish, devoting his time and energy as an extraordinary minister and altar server. He was heartbroken when his parish home was consolidated, but was happy to find a welcoming and loving parish at Holy Spirit.
