Jane M.
Schumacher
October 4, 1933 – March 20, 2023
Jane Mindrup Schumacher
October 4, 1933 - March 20, 2023
Jane was preceded in death by her husband Erwin Raymond Schumacher, her parents, Edward and Marie Mindrup, her brother Bill Mindrup, and her sister, Margie (Mindrup) Eichmann. She is survived by her six sons: Lee (Karen), Kerry (Cathy), Kym (Pris), Dan (Amy), Eric (Tiff), and Steve (Diana); her grandchildren Alan Boehm, Lisa Schumacher, Sarah Smith, Emily Gardner, Hannah Chilcott, Jake Schumacher, Lauren Maxey & Rachel Schumacher; and 8 great grandchildren.
Jane grew up in Edwardsville, IL. Her father owned boats so she spent many weekends on the Mississippi River where she developed a love for swimming and eventually became a certified lifeguard. She attended Edwardsville High School where she was a cheerleader. As a teenager, Jane found the love of her life, Erwin Schumacher. They married shortly before her 18th birthday. Erwin (aka Junior or Erv) introduced her to the other love of her life: her Savior, Jesus Christ. Jane devoted her life to loving God, her husband, and six wonderful sons. Her acts, thoughts, and deeds were dictated by her Christian faith.
In her later years she split time between Ft Myers, Florida and St Louis. She had many friends in both locations. And did she love to dance; round dancing, square dancing, line dancing, or dancing at a wedding reception, she loved it all. She belonged to several square dancing clubs in both St Louis and Ft Myers. She also enjoyed playing cards and belonged to several bridge groups. The other card game she loved was Euchre with her family because there was no sweeter sound to her than the sound of her six sons playing, talking, and laughing. She was skilled with a sewing machine and made or altered much of her own colorful clothing.
Her family and friends were treasured more than gold. She loved each and every family member, her church friends, her dancing friends, her neighbor friends or her bridge friends. The time she spent with family and friends was valued, appreciated, and truly loved. Family get-togethers always started with Mama Jane raising her hands in the air and giving the blessing.
At the end Jane faced death with grace and dignity. There was no fear. In her last days she was surrounded by her family sharing love, stories, laughter and tears. While she would have liked to dance one more time she was ready to make her journey to heaven and be reunited with Erwin.
