Jeffrey T. Gruchala

Beloved companion and partner of Karen Johnson; dear brother of Suzan (Ken) Brightwell; dear uncle of Daniel (Alison) Brightwell, the late Lisa Marie Ortmann, dear great-uncle of Andrew Ortmann, Abby Ortmann, Claire, Evelyn, and Wyatt Brightwell; loved by extended family Tina Johnson, Glenda Nanney, Louie Gilbert, Kelsey (Kyle) Caldwell and Dylan Gilbert; and the late Jim Johnson and the late Debbie Gilbert; our dear cousin and friend to many.

Jeff was a dedicated union painter with over 30 years of service. Beyond his professional accomplishments, Jeff was known for his vibrant personality. He was always a cheerful, upbeat person who made everyone around him smile, and his laugh was infectious.

As a passionate St. Louis Blues Hockey fan, Jeff brought energy and enthusiasm to every game he watched.  During his free time, he enjoyed drinking stout beers, fishing, and taking care of his own vegetable garden. He was also a fan of rock and blues music.

Visitation at Ortmann's, 9222 Lackland Rd. Overland, Wed., Jan. 10 from 4-8 p.m. Service Thurs., Jan. 11 at 10:00 a.m. Interment St. Adalbert Cemetery, Fairview Heights, IL. In lieu of flowers, donations to St. Jude Children's Research hospital appreciated.
