Obituary

Joan M. Gordon (nee Puckett)

Joan M. Gordon passed away Friday, Feb. 23, 2024 in Ellisville, Missouri. She was born December 7, 1929 at Omaha, Nebraska to the late Viola and William Puckett. She married Thomas F. Gordon September 8, 1951 in Denver, Colorado.

She is survived by her sons Michael (Christine), Steven (Christine), John (Amy) Gordon; grandchildren Zachary, Abby (Spencer), Emma, Remy and Harper; and great-grandson Barrett.

She was preceded in death by her parents; her mother and father-in-law William and Ella Gordon; husband Tom; daughter Sheila; sister Marguerite and brother-in-law Leo Hendrickson; and her eight sisters-in-law and six brothers-in-law.

Joan graduated from high school in Omaha and worked in the finance department of a local car dealership. She met the love of her life; Tom and they were married for more than 60 years.

Joan was a proud military wife who managed the moves to more than 10 Air Force bases including assignments in Seville, Spain and Tripoli in North Africa.  As Tom served our country, Joan orchestrated their moves with military precision. Always taking care to have their new house feel like a home. They were an incredible team who made the best of every situation and took full advantage of exploring the world from each base they were stationed.

Joan was an avid golfer, bowler and enjoyed playing bridge and card games. She began her career outside the home after Tom retired from the military, working in real estate for more than 20 years.

Being together with family, especially her three boys, is what made Joan most happy.
