Joann
Mroczkowski
May 17, 1938 – January 28, 2026
Joann Mroczkowski Baptized into the hope of Christ's Resurrection Wednesday, January 28, 2026. Beloved daughter of the late Vitold and Helen Mroczkowski; dear sister and sister-in-law of the late Dorothy McGirl; the late Bruno (the late Irene) Mroczkowski; the late Leo (the late Fannie) Mroczkowski; the late Sr. Helen; the late Regina (the late Walter) Trudzinski; the late Ray (the late Marge) Marsh; the late John Marsh; the late Ted (the late Mary); the late Katherine Mroczkoski; Ed (the late Mary) Marsh; Rita (the late Bill) Alivernia; aunt; great-aunt, godmother and friend.
Joann was the youngest of twelve children, born to Polish immigrants and growing up in Old North Saint Louis. She was close to her parents and siblings her whole life, and loved her status as baby of the family.
She attended Saint Kasmir and Rosati-Kain schools, being crowned as May Queen one year. After high school, she accepted a bookkeeper position at NAPA Auto Parts. NAPA would be her only employer (for over forty years) where she excelled as Office Manager. She made many friends at NAPA. She was a hard worker with a positive attitude and great work ethic.
Throughout her life she was the fun aunt to many nieces and nephews. With a sweet disposition and welcoming nature, she loved hosting family gatherings and being with her large family. She was especially close with her sisters - sharing a home and travel adventures with Dorothy (Dot). In their leisure time, they would go bumming around to shops, casinos and volunteering. Joann loved the Cardinals, Rams and Blues and cheered them on from home, every game. She and Dot were avid puzzlers, who always had a 1000 piece jigsaw going. She was close with her other sisters as well - regularly spending time with Sr. Helen, Regi, Katherine, Rita and their families. She was fond of her six brothers and their families too. Joann was generous in all ways, to family and friends.
Their travels took them around the country and world. In mid-life she began planning 3 trips each year (2 domestic and 1 international) with her sister, Dot. She made many friends in their tour groups and was thankful for her many experiences. She considered her trips to Rome and Poland a special blessing; especially attending Mass presided by St John Paul II, and meeting St Theresa of Calcutta on an airplane. Joann was very proud of her Polish heritage and was delighted when John Paul II was elected Pope. She helped keep polish traditions alive by singing Stolat at every birthday and ensuring Christmas and Easter customs endured. She was a faithful Catholic who attended Mass daily for much of her life.
As her siblings aged, Joann frequently visited those who were homebound. Eventually, Joann became a caregiver for her sister, Dot, who had Parkinson's Disease. Joann was very special to many people. She was a wonderful person who is already missed so much.
