John Joseph "Jack" Beirne

Jack died on June 28, 2022 surrounded by his loving family including the love of his life: Debbie Beirne (nee Lubbering).

Jack was the oldest child born October 17, 1933 to John Beirne and Esther Beirne (nee Hartnett) in St. Louis, Mo. He graduated from Washington University in St. Louis with a civil engineering degree and was a partner with Clayton Engineering until retirement. He was also a Captain in the Army Reserve, a Green Beret and trained for special forces.

Jack was proud of his Irish descent and traveled to Ireland several times with his sister and sons. With a twinkle in his eye and a boyish grin, he called Debbie "his elf." He loved large family gatherings and while he might have been frugal in some things – he was never frugal when it came to food and drink! He loved to play golf (his grandfather opened the 1 ^st public course west of the Mississippi and his dad was a golf pro) and spent many years traveling to some of the best courses in the country to perfect his game.

Jack was predeceased by his parents, his middle son, Kerry Beirne, the mother of his children, Dorothy Jean Beirne (nee Huscheck), Anne Beirne (nee Dyvig) and two of her children, Lynne and Keith Dyvig.

He is survived by his wife Debbie Beirne, his sister Katie Beirne Lucas, his sons Kevin Beirne (Christine Beirne), Kent Beirne (Darcy Beirne), daughter-in-law Susan Beirne, Bruce Dyvig and 20 grandchildren and 5 great-grandchildren.

Services: Memorial Service at the Ortmann Stipanovich Funeral Home, 12444 Olive Blvd., Creve Coeur, Thursday, July 28 at 4 p.m. with visitation one hour prior to service. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to www.BackStoppers.org .
