John R. Pedrotty    June 14,1924 – November 1, 2022
On Tuesday morning, November 1, 2022, John R. Pedrotty passed away peacefully at his home in Chesterfield, Missouri into the arms of Jesus surrounded by his family. He was born June 14, 1924 in Mishawaka, Indiana to Frank and Elizabeth Pedrotty and settled in St. Louis, Missouri in 1947. He graduated with honors from the University of Notre Dame with a Business Administration degree in 1944 where he was the president and lead trumpet player of the Notre Dame Marching Band. He sang in the Glee club at Notre Dame and later in the choir at Incarnate Word Catholic Church. He was very active in the Catholic church community throughout his life including the Knights of Columbus. He was a charter member of the NROTC unit at Notre Dame serving with distinction as a US Naval Officer in WWII both in the European Theater where he met his beloved wife, Gladys, in London, England in 1944 and later served in the Pacific Theater in the Philippines. He enjoyed 61 years of marriage to the late Gladys M. Pedrotty (nee Mercer) and was blessed to be the father of 4 sons, Dr. John R. (Gail) Pedrotty, Jr., James C. (Yvonne) Pedrotty, Jeffrey F. Pedrotty and the late Joseph A. (Christine) Pedrotty and has 13 grandchildren and 12 great grandchildren. He is the dear brother of Charles Pedrotty and the late Francis W. Pedrotty and the late Elizabeth Cornman. He established a very successful metallurgical engineering company in St. Louis, Missouri in 1951 serving primarily the aerospace industry for 70 years. He was a member of ASMI, the Metropolitan St. Louis Engineering Guidance Council, and was a prior City Alderman. He belonged in the National Who's Who in Finance and Industry and was a member of the Notre Dame Sorin Society. He was an avid bowler sponsoring many teams over the years and loved playing his favorite hobby, golf. He took great pride in pursuing excellence in every endeavor in his life instilling that heritage in his sons. He took great pride in providing for his family with unconditional love and commitment. His life was defined by a spirit of compassionate generosity, community service, philanthropy, and a quick wit with a gregarious sense of humor. He drew great strength from his devotion to his faith in Our Lord. He will be greatly missed by his family and friends and will always hold a special place in our hearts.

Visitation will be at the Ortmann Stipanovich Funeral Home,12444 Olive Blvd., Creve Coeur, Missouri 63141 from 4 – 8 pm Friday, Veteran's Day, November 11, 2022. A Memorial Mass will be celebrated Saturday, November 12, 2022, at 10 am at Incarnate Word Catholic Church, 13416 Olive Blvd, Chesterfield, Missouri, 63017 with interment with military honors at Calvary Cemetery.
