Obituary

Joseph Ryan Walsh

Baptized into the hope of Christ's resurrection, Tues., Jan. 21, 2025. Born July 17, 1955 to the late Thomas R. and Marian (Wildeisen) Walsh. Beloved husband of Judy Walsh (nee Boeshart); dear father and father-in-law of Ryan Walsh, Katie (Andy) DeRousse and Connor Walsh; dear brother of Pamela (Christopher) Seyer and the late Thomas R. (Rhonda) Walsh; our dear brother-in-law, nephew, uncle, cousin and friend.

Joe was born in St. Louis, MO, as the second of three children to Thomas R. Walsh and Marian (Wildeisen) Walsh. He graduated from DeSmet Jesuit Highschool in 1973. He went on to earn a bachelor's degree in international relations from Tulane University in 1977. After college, Joe returned to St. Louis, where he met his wife, Judy, at the St. Patrick's Day Run in downtown St. Louis in 1980. The two married December 26th, 1980, building a life centered on love, family, and faith. In the early 90s, Joe took over his father's millwork and building supply business, Walsh-Schreiber Associates, earning the respect of his colleagues for his strong work ethic, reliability, and integrity. He remained with the company until his retirement in 2018.

To know Joe was to know his unwavering devotion to his family. Whether attending band gigs for Ryan, power soccer games for Connor, sporting events for Katie, playing tennis with Judy or attending mass where she sang in the choir, Joe was always present and supportive. He worked wholeheartedly to ensure his family was well cared for, with a special devotion to his son Connor's needs.

Family vacations to Singer Island in Palm Beach, Florida, were a cherished tradition, as well as ski and fishing trips to the mountains. He loved soccer and played many years throughout high school and college. His passion for music was well-known, and he looked forward to his annual trips to New Orleans for the Jazz Festival with his closest friends. Joe was a devoted husband, father, brother, uncle, nephew and friend whose love and dedication left an indelible mark on everyone who knew him. His life was a testament to faith, family, and living with a full heart.
