Obituary

Judith Katherine Rubis (Mahoney), 83, of Chesterfield, Missouri died peacefully on February 6, 2026, surrounded by loved ones.

Judith was born in Danville, Illinois on April 29, 1942. Daughter of a nurse (Alma Mahoney) she learned the importance of her Catholic faith, helping others, and community involvement. In Danville, she met her loving husband, Peter Rubis of Westville, Illinois. They moved to Bridgeton, Missouri in 1966 where she dedicated herself to a life of raising a family, as well as being an active participant with her church community, St. Lawrence the Martyr Parish. This parish involvement allowed her to develop many wonderful relationships with those she considered close friends. She was involved with several groups in which she played golf, volleyball, and shared her entertainment of going to the casino. These relationships were extremely dear to her, even after the parish ceased to exist. They remained important to her even in her final days. At St. Lawrence, she was most proud of her involvement with the annual parish Fall Festival where she ran the variety booth. Later, her and Peter moved to Chesterfield, Missouri as she continued to practice her faith at Incarnate Word Parish. She also continued her dedication to helping others by volunteering at both St. Joseph Institute for the Deaf, and the St. Patrick's Center. She was also actively engaged with the Meals on Wheels program.

Judith is survived by her loving husband Peter, her 2 sons Scott (Kathleen) Rubis and Brent Rubis, her three grandchildren Rachel Rubis, Jordan Rubis, and Peter Rubis II.

To honor Judith's wishes, her body will be cremated, and a mass will be held in her honor. Services will be held on March 7, 2026, at Incarnate Word Parish. Visitation will begin at 11:30 A.M. with mass beginning at 12:30 P.M. A reception will be held immediately after mass in the school cafeteria. In lieu of any flowers or gifts, the family asks that donations be made to the American Cancer Society, or any charity of your choosing, to continue her dedication to caring for others and making a difference in the world.
