Karen Stephens, 91, residing in Creve Coeur, MO, passed away peacefully Wednesday evening April 5 ^th , 2023. Karen was born in 1931.  She grew up in Butler County Pennsylvania and Long Island New York. Karen studied at The Rhode Island School of Design on an art scholarship and went on to The University of Oklahoma where she met James Stephens. They married in 1951 and went on to have 5 beautiful children.

Karen lived a full and active life, often enjoying bridge, bowling, painting, crossword puzzles and flowers. She was an avid reader and had a passion for horseback riding.  Karen was civic minded and volunteered with many organizations and activities during her life including Scouting Leadership, Swimming Instruction, OATS Transportation and a Horseback Search and Rescue team.

Preceded in death by son Mark Stephens and husband James Stephens, Karen is survived and remembered with love by four children, Lynn, Richard, Robert and Valerie, nine grandchildren and six great grandchildren. The family requests that memorial donations be made in her name to Longmeadow Rescue Ranch, The Humane Society of Missouri, or the charity of one's choice in lieu of flowers.

Interment follows at Bellerive Gardens Cemetery.
