Katherine Isabel "Kim" Adams (née McCormack)January 24, 1955 – July 16, 2026

Katherine Isabel "Kim" Adams ( McCormack) passed away peacefully on July 16, 2026. Though given the name Katherine at birth, there were already too many Katherines in the family, so her initials—K.I.M.—became the name everyone called her for the rest of her life.

Kim was born in St. Louis, Missouri, to John and Maury McCormack. She grew up in Creve Coeur, where the family attended St. Monica Parish and, as family lore goes, may or may not have driven on Highway 270 before it was completed. She attended St. Joseph's Academy, following in the footsteps of her older sister, Anne. It was there that Kim formed some of the most treasured friendships of her life—friendships she cherished until her final days.

Kim later attended Lindenwood University, where her natural charm, quick wit, and welcoming personality expanded her circle of lifelong friends even further. Around this time, she met Steve, the love of her life, while they were working together at JCPenney. They began dating in the late 1970s and were married on August 8, 1981—a celebration that friends and family still fondly talk about today.

After settling into married life, Kim and Steve welcomed their first child, Sean. A few years later, their family was complete with the birth of their daughter, another Katherine—this one affectionately known as Katie.

As her children grew, Kim became whatever was needed. She immersed herself in the St. Blaise community, whether chairing the chili cook-off, serving as a Cub Scout and Girl Scout leader, volunteering at the fish fry, or simply showing up whenever help was needed. She became a familiar and beloved presence at school and parish events, and through those experiences formed many more lifelong friendships that continue to mean so much to Steve, Sean, and Katie.

When her children started families of their own, Kim embraced what may have been her favorite role of all—Grandma. She adored her grandsons, Harrison and Charlie, and treasured every moment spent with them. Whether celebrating Christmas, making memories at the lake, hosting the boys for a week each summer, or traveling to Kansas City to visit them, Kim's greatest joy was simply being with her family. Harrison and Charlie never wanted to leave Grandma and Grandpa's house.

Whether she was known as Kim, Katherine, Soph, Gladys, "What's Her Name," Mrs. Adams, Grandma, or simply Mom, she was deeply loved, admired, and respected by everyone fortunate enough to know her. She leaves behind countless memories, lasting friendships, and a legacy of kindness, laughter, and unwavering love for her family.

Kim is survived by her devoted husband of nearly 45 years, Steve Adams; her son, Sean Adams (Sarah); her daughter, Katie Adams, and Katie's partner, Jason Grossmann; her beloved grandsons, Harrison Adams and Charlie Adams; her sister, Anne McCormack; her brother, John McCormack; her cousins Ginny and Bob Bartenstein: her nephews, Brian Rustemeyer and Josh Rustemeyer; and her cousins' daughters, Amanda Bartenstein and Catherine Henry (Bartenstein)

She was preceded in death by her parents, John and Maury McCormack; her parents-in-law, Elsworth and Erma Adams; and her aunt and uncle Jack and Virginia Behrens.

In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made in Kim's honor to SSM Health Cardinal Glennon Children's Hospital or Breakthrough T1D (formerly the Juvenile Diabetes Research Foundation).
