Kathleen L.
Sanders
September 19, 1960 – October 5, 2024
Kathleen (Gillespie) Sanders was called home by her Lord surrounded by family and friends on October 5th, 2024.
She was preceded in death by parents John and Peggy (Margaret Murphy) Gillespie; she is survived by her husband Scott; brothers Larry (Kathy Nickrent) and John; nieces Eileen, Aurelia (Christian Biondi), and Katie; nephews Dan (Angela Moret), Bob and John; and 3 great nephews, Gus, Charlie, and George.
Born September 19, 1960, Kathleen was a cradle Catholic and St. Louis native. She attended St. Clement school, before moving on to Cor Jesu Academy, class of 1978. She always carried the memory of Sister Forminia's home made pizza on Fridays. Her first job during this time was as an usher at the Muny, where Denny Reagan was her boss, setting off a life-long love for musical theatre.
Kathleen graduated from Saint Louis University in 1982 with a Bachelors Degree in Political Science. While at SLU, she met and became life-long friends with many of her Kappa Betta Phi sorority sisters. This is where she cultured her love of news, politics, and College Basketball.
Kathleen went on to becoming the Box Office Manager at Riverport Ampitheater, where she gained an appreciation of all genres of music and pop culture. She was a great table partner at trivia parties.
After Riverport, she moved into staffing as a recruiter, then moved to the contingent labor office at Monsanto. After Monsanto, she became a Client Success Manger at Randstad.
Kathleen and Scott were married on December 28, 2012. They had a blessed marriage with not a single argument. She led Scott as his partner through RCIA and to becoming a Catholicin 2017.
As a life-long parishioner at St. Clement Church, Kathleen was active as a lector, Extraordinary Minister, and numerous ministries. She was the driving force behind re-establishing the ACTS ministry after COVID.
She will be greatly missed by her SLU Kappa Beta Phi sorority sisters, co-workers at the Muny, Riverport Amphitheater, Monsanto, Randstad, friends at St. Clement Church, and all those whose lives she touched.
