Kathryn Jane Schneider
May 3, 1935 – April 4, 2023
Kathryn "Kathy" Jane Schneider of St. Louis Missouri was born to Frank and Mary Lednick in
Crystal City, Missouri. She graduated from Crystal City High in 1953 and the University of
Missouri with a Bachelor of Science degree in Education in 1957. After college she worked as a
second-grade teacher, and then for many years as an academic advisor at St. Louis Community
College at Meramec.
Kathy was married to Robert Schneider in 1959 and they enjoyed 63 happy years together. A
loving and caring wife, mother, grandmother, and great-grandmother, Kathy is survived by her
husband Bob; two children, Jeff (Kim) and Eric, grandchildren Scott, Maggie, Matt, and Adam;
and great grandson Leo.
Kathy loved her life to the full. She was a multitalented musician: an accomplished pianist, and
while in high school was both first chair violinist and clarinet player in the marching band. Kathy
enjoyed playing golf, was an avid bridge player and an enthusiastic book club member. She had
the gift of hospitality, and her favorite guests were the family and friends she loved so much.
Few things gave her more joy than shopping for and finding the perfect gift—even better if it
was a terrific bargain!
