Leonard Gerald Canoy
May 6, 1942 – November 25, 2023

Leonard Gerald Canoy, 81, of Maryland Heights, Missouri passed away on November 25, 2023. Born on
May 6, 1942, in St. Louis, Missouri, Leonard was a beloved husband, father, grandfather, great
grandfather, and friend.
Leonard was married to his loving wife Paula (nee Howell) for 57 years. Together, they raised two sons:
Daniel and David (Linda). He had seven grandchildren: Danielle, James, Jenna (Justin) Pham, Nick,
Caroline, Sean, and Destiny, as well as two great-grandchildren, Danny and Luca.
Leonard was preceded in death by his mother Catherine, father Leonard, brother Dennis, son Daniel,
and grandson Nick.
Leonard proudly served his country in the US Navy. He retired in 2002 as a Chief Petty Officer SKC. He
also had a successful career at Chrysler, where he retired in 1994.

Len lived his best life after retirement. He enjoyed playing golf, fishing, and spending time at the lake. He
was a wonderful singer and enjoyed singing Willy Nelson songs during karaoke nights at his favorite
hang outs. His favorite place was at the lake, where he enjoyed sitting on his porch swing, relaxing at the
dock, or visiting with friends poolside – always with a drink in his hand and a smile on his face.

A burial service will be held at Jefferson Barracks National Cemetery at 1:30 on Thursday, November 30,
2023. If you would like to attend, meet near the entrance shortly after 1pm to follow the procession to
the gravesite.
A celebration of life will be held from 3-7 at VFW Post 3944; 10815 Midland Blvd; Overland, MO 63114.
All are invited to join the celebration.
