Longius Heaill Kim was born March 15, 1936 in Shinwiju Nosong-dong, Korea. He graduated from Gyongbok High School in 1954 and went on to Yonsei University Medical School, earning his degree in 1962. He served in the Korean army as Captain until 1964. Later that year, he married Ji Hyun Lee (nee). After the birth of his first child, the family immigrated in 1968 to the United States whereupon he took a position as a Resident at Lutheran Hospital in St. Louis to continue his medical training. In 1973, the family settled in Flat River, Missouri, where he opened multiple medical clinics and was on staff at multiple hospitals in the region, most notably Washington County Memorial Hospital in Potosi. He practiced for over 35 years. During this time, he raised four children, served as President of the Korean Catholic parish of St. Louis, and was actively involved with Yonsei Medical University Alumni Association. In his retirement, he and his wife volunteered to help open a new catholic hospital in Daegu, South Korea. Preceded in death by his wife (2012), beloved father to Chino Kim of St. Louis MO, Chinsoo Kim (Mary Beth Macedo) of San Francisco CA, Susie Kim (Thomas Wells) of Denver CO, and Joanna Suhyun Kim (William Keller) of St. Louis MO, beloved grandfather of Audrey Keller and Aaron Keller, and beloved brother to Ok Kyong Kim (sister) of Seoul Korea and Young Il Kim (brother) of Chicago IL, he is remembered for his love, laughter, generosity, and loyalty to his family and community.
