Lynn Ann Hanon (nee Banker)
February 26, 1962 - September 24, 2023
Lynn Ann Hanon, a beloved wife, mother, daughter, sister, and friend, passed away at her home on September 24, 2023, surrounded by her family, after a courageous three-and-one-half-year battle with ALS. Her departure has left a profound void in the lives of all who had the privilege of knowing her. Lynn is survived by her devoted husband, Stephen Hanon; her loving children, Rachel and Alex Hanon; her father, Millard F. Banker III; mother, Nancy J. Banker, brother Millard F. Banker IV, sister Marguerite Stratton; and a host of cherished family and friends. Those touched by her warmth and kindness will forever cherish her memory.
Lynn was born in Collingswood, NJ, and was raised in the Columbus and Toledo, OH, environs. She graduated from Indiana University, where she was a member of the Delta Gamma sorority and earned a Bachelor of Science in Business Administration in 1984. She dedicated her life to education and service as a teacher's aide, assisting students with learning challenges in middle school math and achieving national recognition as a Speech and Debate Coach at Marriott's Ridge High School in Ellicott City, MD. Her passion for helping young minds flourish extended to her role as a College Admissions Office Coordinator at Iona College in New Rochelle, NY.
Lynn was known for her boundless energy and beautiful smile, and she was the epitome of love and selflessness. As a mother, she was unwavering in her support and affection, providing her children a nurturing and loving home.
Lynn's commitment to her community was a testament to her generous spirit. She tirelessly organized wardrobing for her children's musical theater productions, earning her the affectionate title of "Drama Mama" alongside other mothers within the theatre community. Her dedication and enthusiasm were infectious, and her legacy of service will continue to inspire those she touched.
During her downtime, Lynn found solace in the beauty of nature. She adored her pet Labradoodles (Harley and Bear) and her beagle (Stella), watching hummingbirds in her St. Louis backyard, reading novels for her book clubs, cooking Spanish-inspired cuisine (Tortilla Española and Argentine empanadas), and keeping up with family and friends.
Lynn's memory will forever shine brightly in our hearts -- a beacon of love, laughter, and constant support. Though she may be physically gone, her spirit will continue to inspire us to be selfless, to love deeply, and to find joy in the simple things in life, just as she did.
