Marlyn "Jean" Marsa, 86, of St Louis, MO, formally of Washington, IL, passed away on Thursday, July 18, 2024 at Mary Queen and Mother Center in St Louis, MO.
Jean was born on January 30, 1938 to the late Myrill and Ida (Thomas) Judy in Peoria, IL. She married James R. Marsa on August 9, 1958 in Peoria, IL; He preceded her in death on February 14, 2012. She was also preceded in death by sisters Doris Paluska and Shirlee Figgins. Surviving are her children, Tamara J. (Ralph) Marsa-Poche of Thibodaux, LA, David W. (Mandy) Marsa of Durango, CO and Kimberly S. (Matthew) Madden of St Louis, MO; grandchildren, Shannon (Troy) Dulinsky, Adam (Lexy) Marsa, Ralph (Amber) Poche Jr, Reese Poche, Valerie Poche, Sean Madden and William Madden; great- grandsons Hunter Poche, Ryder Poche and Jasper Marsa.
Jean graduated high school from Broadview Academy in 1956 and attended Andrews University in Berrien Springs, MI. In the 1960's and 70's she was active with the Washington Junior Women's Club (president in 1968 and again in 1970). Along with Jim, she enjoyed Square Dancing as members of the Peoria Park Promenaders and Whirl-A-Ways of Morton, IL. They went on many trips and demonstrations with their square dancing friends. She was an avid antique collector of many items notably Heisey glass baskets and Lenox. In Florida, they were members of the Heisey Collector's Club. In 2001, she retired from Waste Management Systems after a 25 year career. After Jim retired in 2002, Jean and Jim moved to The Villages, FL where they enjoyed an active social life with many new and longstanding friends.

Deiters Funeral Home and Crematory in Washington is assisting the family with arrangements. Cremation rites will be accorded. A memorial service will be held on Sunday, July 28, 2024 from 1:00 - 3:00pm at Deiters Funeral Home in Washington. Burial will be private at Hillcrest Memorial Gardens in Morton, IL.
