Mary Georgia
Hodapp
July 20, 1950 – April 13, 2024
Mary Georgia Hodapp (nee Carmody) of St. Louis, Missouri, passed away on April 13, 2024 of complications due to Multiple Sclerosis. Georgia is preceded in death by her father, George Carmody, her mother, Mary Carmody, and her brother, Donald Carmody (Patricia). She is survived by her husband, Edward Hodapp; her stepchildren, Kyle N. Hodapp, Wendi E. Nations, and Stephanie S. Dally; her brothers, John P. Carmody, M.D. (Lucy), William J. Carmody (Ellen), Gerard T. Carmody (Suzanne), and James P. Carmody (Nannette); her brothers-in-law, Mark T. Hodapp and Michael R. Hodapp; eleven nieces and nephews; and twelve great nieces and nephews.
Georgia's five brothers would say that she was the best athlete in the family. At Visitation Academy, she played basketball and was the captain of the field hockey team. After graduating from Visitation Academy in 1968, she attended St. Louis University and then Maryville College, where she received her nursing degree.
Georgia moved to Denver in her twenties to enjoy the outdoors, especially skiing, and worked as a nurse at Mount Airy Psychiatric Hospital. This job was fitting for Georgia, as she was known by family and friends as one of the most caring people they knew.
Georgia was committed to her faith. Above all, she valued her relationship with her brothers and her husband. Georgia had a way of making every person she spoke to feel important. Even as she battled Multiple Sclerosis, she continued to be selfless and never let MS limit her enjoyment of life. Her resilience and will to live inspired all those around her.
