Mary Patricia
Kroupa
November 21, 1933 – April 9, 2025
Mary Patricia Kroupa (née Flotte)
November 21, 1933 - April 9, 2025
Baptized into the hope of Christ's resurrection on April 9, 2025. Mary was surrounded by her family when she passed away peacefully at the age of 91.
She was born on November 21, 1933 in St. Louis, Missouri to Dr. Bernard and Margaret Flotte. Beloved wife for one month short of 60 years to the late Eugene F. Kroupa; devoted mother of Eugene, Jr. (Laura) Kroupa, Margaret (Dave) Travers, and Kathleen Kroupa; cherished grandmother of David, Jr. (fiancee Caroline), Daniel (Gabby), Libby and Matthew Travers and Carolyn Kroupa; dear sister of Peggy (the late Dick) Ohlsen, the late Bernard Flotte, Jr. and the late Mike (Pam ) Flotte; dear sister-in-law of Sue (the late Allan) Kroupa; dear aunt, great-aunt, cousin and friend to many.
Mary graduated from Visitation Academy in 1951 and was an active alumni throughout the years. She began her college studies at Maryville College, where she met her future husband at a Maryville/St. Louis University dance. She then transferred to St. Louis University and proceeded to graduate with a Nursing degree. She continued her support and active participation in many events and activities at Maryville and SLU. She loved being with people and socializing. She was a volunteer with the St. John's Auxiliary, a member of the St. Anselm Prayer Group, a retired nurse committee member, and volunteered at senior care facilities, to name just a few of the ways she found to put a smile on so many faces.
Perhaps mostly, Mary adored spending time with her family. Whether it was the many family vacations throughout the years anywhere near the water, and specifically on Gasparilla Island, Boca Grande, The Lake of the Ozarks, or family celebration dinners and parties, you could feel Mary's joy and delight by just being together with her family. She could not have been more proud of her children and grandchildren and loved to tell everyone about them.
Many fond memories will be cherished from time spent with Mary. She will be greatly missed and remembered as a wonderful person with a kind and loving heart. Her spirit will live on in the hearts of all who knew and loved her. Mary lived a beautiful, dignified life.
Services: The family will greet friends and loved ones beginning at 10:00 a.m. on Friday, July 18, 2025 at St. Anselm Church, 530 S. Mason Road, Creve Coeur, MO 63141, followed by a Memorial Mass at 11:00 a.m. There will be a reception immediately following the Mass.
