Mary Lou
Kelley
March 18, 1928 – May 5, 2025
Mary Lou Kelley (nee Bartlett) Mon. May 5, 2025
Beloved wife of the late Eldon Lee Kelley; dear mother and mother-in-law of Denise (Jay) Levine, Janet (Kevin) Hogan and the late Jeffrey (Lisa) Kelley; dear grandmother of David Levine, Kelley (Max) Reiss, Rachel (Adam) Merideth, Nicole Kelley, Shannon (Kyle) Byrd, Christopher (Sara) Hogan and Cory Hogan; dear great grandmother of Eli, Sydney, Evan, Austin, Owen, CJ, Henry and Ivy; dear sister of Richard (Linda) Bartlett and the late Rev. Allen Bartlett and Norma (Frank) Snyder; dear sister-in-law of Alice Bartlett; our dear aunt, great aunt, cousin and friend.
Mary loved to play cards, gardening and was a devoted member of Parkway Baptist Church. Helping others was second nature to Mary. Her nurturing heart extended to her family, friends, neighbors, and church. She was always thinking of others. Anyone that knew Mary knows how she loved to play cards and board games. Bridge, Hand and Foot, Pinocle, and Yahtzee were some of her favorites. Mary was almost always assigned to be the scorekeeper not only because of her sharp mind and ability to add/subtract quickly, but because she would never cheat on the score. Mary was also a gifted cook. She would prepare entire meals for small to large family gatherings as well as for church events. She was most known in our family for her delicious homemade dinner rolls with honey butter. She would get up at 4:00 a.m. to make the dough. We will sure miss this kind of love and dedication she showed us. Mary was also an avid Cardinal baseball fan who rarely missed a game.
Mary so loved Parkway Baptist Church and up to the last several years was present every time the church doors were open. Highlights of her tolerance in the church community over the years include teaching Sunday School, involvement in the GA program, singing in the senior choir, serving on the finance committee, and volunteering to host foreign missionaries in her home. May 6, 2018 Mary received the Senior Adult of the Year award for all of her service for the Lord. Even though she did not do things for recognition, she felt honored and grateful for the opportunities given to her at Parkway Baptist Church.
Mary loved her Baptist hymns. Some of her favorite were How Great Thou Art and Great is thy Faithfulness.
Mary rejoiced in the promise of eternal life as promised in 1st Thessalonians 4:13-18 "He will never forget you as you walk thru life's hardships. An on that final day when your story draws to a close, he will not forget you in your death".
Mary is now at peace in the arms of her savior. In his light we find much comfort. If you feel the presence of an angel- it could be Mary. Exodus 23:20 tells us "For he will give his angels charge concerning you, to guard you in all your ways".
Mary Lou Kelley will be missed by many but never forgotten.
