Mary Schulz Lucas   1934-2023, passed away peacefully at home on June 30, 2023, with her children at her side.

Mary was born on May 31, 1934.  She attended St. Roch School and the Academy of the Sacred Heart (City House), class of 1952.  While attending Maryville College, Mary met the love of her life J.B.C. Lucas. They were happily married for 61 years.  Mary was a fun and loving mother to four rambunctious children yet somehow found the time and energy to start a new business, Lucas Market Research, which continues to this day.

A cherished wife, mom, aunt, friend and successful businesswoman, Mary had a competitive spirit whether in sports, business, or her favorite pastime, gardening.  She is survived by her four children: Suzie Echelmeyer (Tom), Jean Baptiste Charles Lucas IV (Linda), Tom Lucas and Ted Lucas (Jenny); nine grandchildren (Katy Morris (Kevin), John Echelmeyer, Erin Echelmeyer, Tom Echelmeyer, Jean Baptiste Charles Lucas V (Kaitlin), Sam Lucas, Hunt Lucas (Gretchen), Maria Rennillo (Max), and Megan Lucas); six great-grandchildren (Will, Molly, Jack, Matthew, Max, and Hunter Morris), and her many Schulz and Gilbert nieces and nephews, all of whom she loved dearly.  Mary was preceded in death by her husband J.B.C., her parents Genevieve and Harold Schulz, brothers Fielding and John Schulz, and her granddaughters Christine and Emily Lucas.

Visitation at the Ortmann Stipanovich Funeral Home, 12444 Olive Blvd., Creve Coeur, on Thur., July 6 from 4-8 p.m. Mass of Christian Burial at Our Lady of Lourdes Church, 7148 Forsyth Blvd., University City on Fri., July 7 at 10 a.m. Interment Calvary Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, please consider a donation to the Society of St. Vincent de Paul, Birthright, or the American Cancer Society.
