Melynda passed away peacefully from obstructive jaundice. She was born in St. Louis, MO to George J. and Erma Wood Porgès. She was the much loved cousin of Anne and Jim Drisler, of Phoenix, AZ, and her cousins Stevie Villareal, Cheryl Parker, Bonnie Yocke, Phillip Wood, Bruce Carlton, Tom Drisler, and Pam Pollick; as well as her stepsons, Michael and Christine Sterrett (and son Brett), and Mark and Jane Marie Sterrett of Rockledge, FL (and Mariah, Kayla, Trevor and Tyler). She also leaves many life-long friends in St. Louis and all over Missouri and across the country.

Melynda attended the St. Louis Cathedral Grade School when she lived with her grandmother. She graduated from high school in Slater, MO. She earned her degree in business. In St. Louis, she was the executive assistant to the CEO of GMAC Insurance. She moved to Springfield to care for her friend, Sally Nelson until Sally's passing.

Melynda joined IAAP (International Association of Administrative Professionals) in 1975. She served as a mentor to many as well as serving on committees and in many offices on the local and state levels including Treasurer, President-Elect and President. She served on the International level on numerous committees and as the District Director, SW District. In 2002, she was recognized with the Rose M. Tettenhorst CPS Member of the Year award. She made presentations on a number of topics, including the "Energizer Bunny". She was a Parliamentarian. She had a beautiful voice, and sang at many weddings and in several choirs in St. Charles.

Melynda donated her body to the St. Louis School of Medicine. Therefore, there will be no visitation. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to Melynda's grandson Brett, who is beginning a two-year mission in South Africa. Here is a link: https://www.campusoutreach.org/donate/brett-sterrett/ .
