Mickie James
Fetters
November 17, 1945 – March 24, 2025
Mickie James Fetters, Son of the late James E Fetters and Virginia M Fetters (Arnold), was born in St. Louis, Missouri, on November 17, 1945. He departed this life at Christian Hospital in St. Louis, MO on March 24, 2025, at the age of 79 surrounded by his family.
On September 8th, 1967 in St. Louis, MO, Mickie was united in marriage to Marcia A Fetters (Williams). They have been happily married for 57 years.
Together, they had one daughter: Jill Looney (Fetters). One of Mickie's proudest accomplishments was his one and only daughter.
Mickie joined the Navy at the young age of 22 years old. He served a total of 3.5 years. In these years he was stationed in Millington, TN, Pensacola, FL, Jacksonville, FL, and served overseas in Puerto Rico.
Mickie worked at Hill-Behan Lumber Company in St. Louis, MO as a Foreman for 20 years. After Hill-Behan Lumber shut down, he went to work for Harrison Lumber Company in St. Louis, MO. Mickie worked for Harrison Lumber as a millwright for 10 years before retiring. Mickie was a member of two carpenter's unions for 30 years.
He enjoyed deer, dove, turkey, and duck hunting. Running rabbits with his pups, coaching softball, and putting his carpentry knowledge to use.
His greatest joy was spending time with his two Granddaughters: Grace A Looney and Kelsey M Looney. Together they would practice their wrestling moves, turkey calling skills and trying to perfect Grandpa's world famous Egg Sandwich.
Mickie is preceded in death by his parents: James E Fetters and Virginia M Fetters. Sister: Darleen Potter & Bill Potter - Brother in law: Hank Hanneken
Nephew: Steven Potter - Niece: Julie Cash
Mickie is survived by his wife: Marcia Fetters. One daughter: Jill Looney. Two Granddaughters: Grace Looney (fiancé: John Moss) and Kelsey Looney. Three sisters: Marline Hanneken, Sherry Winter (Joe), Virginia Ham (Lee). Thirteen Nieces/Nephews: Jean, Norma, Nancy, Charlie, Scott, Andy, Kim, Jennifer, Pat, Emily, Brian, Brad, and Barry.
Mickie will be deeply missed by friends and family.
Memorial visitation at Ortmann's, 9222 Lackland Rd., Overland, Friday, April 4, from 4:00p.m. until 7:00 p.m.
