Obituary

Mina D. Frisella (nee Jones) passed away on December 28, 2022.
beloved wife of the late Frank Frisella; dear mother and mother-in-law of Cindy (Mark) Dreste, Jay (Mary) Frisella, and Jeff (Donna) Frisella; dear grandmother of the late Sean Dreste, Nikki (Dan) Clark, Rachel (Chris) Hayes, Mandie (Doug) Farrell, Matt Frisella, Tarry (Rebecca) Gerling and Kristin (Dan) Highley; dear great grandmother of Michael, Zoe, Deacon, Jackson, Kennedy and Riley; dear sister of Jama Richardson; dear sister-in-law of Bridget; our dear aunt, great aunt, cousin and friend to many.

Mom was born in Cambria, Illinois. She was an only child whose parents divorced when she was two. She was then mostly raised by her grandparents while her mom worked.
50 years later, she discovered she had a beloved sister, who changed her life. In her late teens she came to St. Louis with her mom and met my dad. They were married 56 years when dad passed and up until that time shared their love with three kids, seven grandkids and two great grandkids. Early on mom volunteered at Saint Mary's Hospital in the nursery, one of her loves. Then, up until retirement, she worked as a secretary. She never had a house of her own always content to live in a flat or apartment where other people lived. She made her tenants her friends. She loved animals and was never without a dog and sometimes cat, chipmunk, guinea pig, or monkey. She was raised Pentecostal, but left her faith for many years, only to return, and become a true follower of God in the past 25 years. Mom was always too busy to entertain any real hobbies, only reading the newspaper in her leisure time, and when grandkids came along they became her focus. Kids, pets and work were her life. So many fond memories surround her-Sunday dinners every week for family and an open door policy for anyone else, annual Christmas Eve gatherings, vacations with we three kids, and then later with a grandchild or two, and of course, continuous reminders to acknowledge all gifts with thank you cards.
Mom's testimonial is defined by everything we are reading and hearing about her-her strength, independence, compassion, generosity, love of family and love of God. Even after her stroke through her dementia when she could barely communicate, she expressed concern about having family over Christmas Eve and not having gifts for everyone, thinking of her family right to the very end. She was a great mother and friend.
