Nancy Lee Davies, passed away July 28,2026, at the age of 94 at her home in Maryland Heights, MO. Loving survivors include her six children Linda Davies Neill of Maryland Heights, MO; Steven (Brenda) Davies of Paris, KY; Kathryn (Kenneth) Schaefer of Cape Girardeau, MO; Michael (Regina) Davies of Berkeley, MO; James (Arin) Davies of Maryland Heights, MO; and John Matthew (Dana) Davies of Ballwin, MO. Her dear sister Carol Jean Heineck of Cape Girardeau, MO. Her many grandchildren, great grandchildren, great-greatgrandchildren, nieces, nephews, and cousins. She was preceded in death by her parents Edmund and Frances Tritz and her husband Edward Richard Davies, Jr. 

Nancy was born May 2, 1932 to her parents Ed and Frances. Her sweet little sister, Carol was born almost three years later. She attended St. Rita grade school, Visitation Academy High School, and Miss Hickies Secretarial School. After that she worked at Wagner Electric as a secretary where her father also worked. She met her future husband, Ed, at Wagner’s. They married on June 14, 1952. Nancy was a devoted wife and full-time mother to their six children.

After a life-threatening pregnancy in 1970 with her sixth child, (Matthew), she experienced a deep conversion to the Blessed Mary. This was life-changing and led her to the Marianist community in St. Louis. She became a Lay Marianist Affiliate and was involved in this ministry for over 50 years. After the passing of her husband in 1986, she returned to the workforce at Parkway North High School. For the first few years she worked in the print shop, then as a secretary in the principal’s office where her sister, Carol, also worked.

Nancy was an excellent cook, baker, and seamstress. She loved to play her baby-grand piano—a gift from her parents in her younger years. She volunteered at school, church, was a Eucharistic Minister, Parish School of Religion teacher, lector, and endless baker of Gold Cakes for parish bereavement dinners at her beloved St. John Bosco Parish. She was a very active Marianist affiliate for many years and served many roles in this community. She was a contributor and co-editor of the Marianist Newsletter “Maryway”, attended conferences, retreats and was known for her exceptional talent of corresponding and faith sharing within the Marianist family.

Nancy survived oral cancer surgery and radiation treatments in 2019 and declared cancer-free up to the time of her death. She was a very strong woman. She said “I need to keep going as long as Jesus needs me.”She was a very devout Catholic and lived her faith-sharing with all she crossed paths with—especially her grandchildren. She recited her rosary every night at bedtime and would say “If I fall asleep while praying, I let the angels finish it for me”. She was so grateful for her many friends from all walks of life—her gifted physicians, staff and hospice team at Mercy and all her caregivers especially her daughter, Linda Neill, RN who cared for her 365 days-25/7 for many years which allowed her mother to pass peacefully at home. 

She also kept in touch with grade school and Viz friends; her secretary friends at PNHS; her YMCA swimming buddies; her wire fox terrier rescue friends (she traveled to Iowa three times to rescue her own special dogs who needed a home), her long-time neighbor, Jackie Stefanoni, who checked on her frequently; her many Marianist community family, her St. John Boscofriends and spiritual partners—especially Father Joe Weber and Deacon Paul Craska. 

And lastly and mostly for the friendship of her dear sister, Carol who was always her best friend, confidant, shopping buddy, and all-around support person. They did almost everything together. The loved each other “the bestest ”!Thank you all for loving our beautiful Mother—she loved you all and prayed for you always. We end with a message from Mother Teresa of Calcutta: “Not all of us can do great things, but we can do little thing with great love.” Job well done, Nancy!
