Nancy M. Myers July 2, 1933 - July 26, 2026
If you knew our Mom, you knew kindness. You knew unwavering faith, unconditional love, and someone who never missed an opportunity to make another person feel welcome. She lived a beautiful life, not because it was extraordinary, but because she made ordinary moments with family and friends feel extraordinary.
Nancy M. Myers passed away peacefully on Sunday, July 26, 2026, in Chesterfield, Missouri, at the age of 93. Born in St. Louis on July 2, 1933, Mom lived a life rooted in faith, family, resilience, and quiet grace. She never sought recognition or attention. Instead, she simply lived each day with compassion, generosity, and an unwavering trust in God.
Family was always the center of Mom's world. She devoted herself to raising her five children, creating a home where everyone felt welcomed, loved, and cared for. She celebrated life's milestones, offered quiet encouragement through life's challenges, and found her greatest happiness simply by being surrounded by the people she loved.
Mom's life was not without heartache. She lost her father as an infant, survived cancer, and later experienced the unimaginable loss of her beloved son, Tommy. Through every season of joy and sorrow, she leaned on her faith rather than her circumstances. She never allowed life's hardships to define her or diminish her joy. Even as the independence and good health she treasured were gradually taken from her in her final years, she never complained or questioned God's plan. Instead, she met each challenge with quiet dignity, remarkable resilience, and unwavering trust. Her strength was never loud - it was steady, grace-filled, and one of the greatest gifts she gave to those who loved her. She showed us that courage isn't found in a life without hardship, but in meeting hardship with faith.
After raising her family, Mom began a second career with the St. Louis Jewish Light, where she found great fulfillment and formed many lifelong friendships. She genuinely loved people, and it showed in every relationship she built throughout her life.
Her Catholic faith was the foundation of who she was. She lived it every day through compassion, generosity, and service to others. She was especially devoted to Birthright and the pro-life movement, giving countless hours to supporting mothers and families with hope, encouragement, and love.
Mom embraced life with joy, laughter, and just the right amount of friendly competition. She loved playing tennis and volleyball, never turned down a game of cards, and had an uncanny knack for winning at Trivial Pursuit, often amazing family and friends with the knowledge she seemed to have tucked away about just everything. More often than not, she was the one everyone hoped wouldn't be on the opposing team.
Her faith and friendships were woven together throughout her life. She treasured the fellowship of her prayer group, where she found encouragement, purpose, and lifelong friendships rooted in faith. She also found great happiness in music. As a proud member of the Kennedy Kitchen Band and several singing groups, she brought smiles to countless faces while entertaining residents of nursing homes. Mom believed that a song, a smile, a game, or simply spending time with someone could brighten another person's day, and she shared that gift of joy generously with everyone she met.
Nothing brought Mom greater pride than her family. She was the beloved mother of Linda Hartman (Mark); Brad Myers (Kathy); Julie Kaltenrieder (David); Tommy Myers; and Nancy McConnell. She was the proud grandmother of Sarah, Ellen, Michael, Daniel, Erin, Elise, Andrew, Grace, Christian, and Colin, and the cherished great-grandmother of nine. One of her final joys was learning that another great-grandchild is expected this coming March. Knowing that another little life would soon join the family she loved so deeply brought her comfort and joy in her final hours.
Mom was preceded in death by her beloved husband, John Thomas Myers; her son, Tommy Myers; her siblings, Dorothy, Arnold, and Marie; and her parents.
Along with her loving family, Mom leaves behind many extended family members and countless dear friends whose lives were made richer by knowing her. Her legacy of faith, compassion, generosity, resilience, and unconditional love will continue for generations. Those of us who were blessed to call her Mom, Grandma, Grandma Hockey, GG, Great-Grandma, family, or friend will carry her example in our hearts always.
Our family is eternally grateful to the extraordinary caregivers, nurses, physicians, and medical professionals who walked alongside Mom as her health declined. Throughout that time, she continued doing what she had always done so naturally - making everyone around her feel valued, appreciated, and loved.
What began as professional relationships quickly became lasting friendships. The caregivers who came into our home as strangers became part of our family, surrounding Mom with remarkable compassion, dignity, laughter, and love. Her warmth, gracious spirit, quick wit, and genuine interest in others made every visit feel less like work and more like spending time with a dear friend. Whether at home, in the hospital, or at a doctor's appointment, she had a way of brightening every room she entered. We will forever be grateful for the kindness, devotion, and love they showed her, and for the countless ways they enriched not only Mom's life, but ours as well.
Family and friends are invited to celebrate Mom's life during a visitation on Thursday, July 30, from 4:00 p.m. until 8:00 p.m. at Ortmann-Stipanovich Funeral Home, 12444 Olive Boulevard, Creve Coeur, Missouri 63141. One of Mom's final wishes was that family and friends gather to pray the Rosary together, which will begin at 7:30 p.m., a fitting tribute to the faith that guided her throughout her life.
A Funeral Mass will be celebrated by Monsignor Vince Bommarito on Friday, July 31, at 12:30 p.m. at St. Monica Catholic Church, 12136 Olive Boulevard, Creve Coeur, Missouri 63141. Following the Mass, burial will take place at St. Monica Cemetery, after which family and friends are invited to gather for a luncheon at Stone Soup Cottage 5809 Highway N, Cottleville, Missouri 63304 to continue celebrating a life so beautifully lived.
In lieu of flowers, our family requests that memorial contributions be made to Birthright of St. Louis or Nine PBS St. Louis, two organizations that reflected Mom's lifelong commitment to faith, compassion, education, and caring for others.
