Oksana Marchuk Shpringman May 27, 1971 to July 19, 2026

Oksana passed away peacefully at home on Sunday, July 19, after confronting terminal illness with courage and grace. She spent her final days surrounded by her loved ones.

Oksana was predeceased by her parents, Sofia (née Chorna) Marchuk and Michael Marchuk. She is survived by her husband, Haim Efim Shpringman; her son, Jake Shpringman; her daughter, Natalie Shpringman; and her son-in-law, Paden Davis.

Oksana was born in Chernivsti, Ukraine and was raised by her beloved mother, Sofia. Her mother saved up for months to buy a piano and enroll her in lessons at a young age, starting a lifelong love for music and teaching. She completed Chernivsti Music College with honors in 1990. She later went on to earn her Master’s in Piano Performance at Washington University in St. Louis in 2008. Along the way, she studied school counseling, linguistics, and computer science; she was a lifelong learner and never stopped growing.

Oksana spent most of her career as a piano teacher and cherished her students. She enjoyed watching her students grow over the years and guiding them through recitals and competitions. She was proud to serve as President of the Missouri Federation of Music Clubs. Oksana had a full heart and could strike up a friendship with anybody. Despite her strong command of four languages, Oksana continued to take ESL classes just to get to meet new people. She became an avid pickleball player at the YMCA and was always eager to challenge herself. She loved to garden, starting at a young age at her childhood dacha with her mother. She volunteered with Team Tappmeyer for years, tending to a vegetable garden at her beloved Millenium Park. Oksana adored the water, whether kayaking at Creve Coeur Lake, swimming laps in the pool, or sitting lakeside while visiting her daughter in Madison, Wisconsin.

Oksana was a significant contributor to her community, which spans several countries: she left a lasting touch with every one of her students in terms of artistry, kindness, and sophistication; she left an eternal impression on all who visited her YouTube channel and saw her beautiful fusion of professional playing with modern graphical interpretation of sheet music; finally, she left a profound impression on her friends and family.

Oksana leaves behind a legacy of love, tenacity, and artistry. She will be deeply missed by those who knew her.
